A described device includes a first material configured to reflect a substantial portion of a specified incident air blast wave energy. The first material has an acoustic impedance substantially mismatched to air's acoustic impedance. The device includes a second material configured for wearing proximate to a human body and having attenuating-regions. A first attenuating-region has a first inelastic response to the specified incident air blast wave energy. A second attenuating-region has a second inelastic response to the specified incident air blast wave energy. At least a portion of a back surface of the first material is proximate to at least a portion of a front surface of the second material.

Abstract: A headpiece assembly for use with a night vision mounting arm includes a bump shell and an interior suspension assembly for seating on the head of a human. A mounting bracket is secured to the front of the bump shell for removably attaching the night vision mounting arm to the bump shell. A ballistic shell has a bottom forming an opening and a coupling mechanism for removably securing the ballistic shell to the bump shell when the ballistic shell is placed over the bump shell. The ballistic shell has a front and a notch extending upwardly from the opening into the front for receiving the mounting bracket when the ballistic shell is placed over the bump shell so as to permit the night vision mounting arm to be attached to the bump shell during use of the ballistic shell.

Abstract: A cut resistant glove is provided having an inner surface and an outer surface wherein the inner surface is adapted for contacting a hand of a user, and the outer surface is visible while the user is wearing the glove. The glove includes a two layer knit fabric of a plaited construction including a first layer on the inner surface and a second layer on the outer surface. The outer surface is constructed from non-stretchable, cut resistant yarn, wherein the yarn has filaments that are generally parallel to one another and the inner surface is constructed from a stretchable, elastic yarn.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a securing apparatus and method for securing a hand protective device about the wrist of the wearer. The apparatus provides a mechanism that allows a wearer to single-handedly secure a glove or hand protective device on their other hand, even when the wearer has taped hands for contact sports. The invention allows for the glove or hand protective device to be secured in a manner that eliminates gaps or twisting about the wearer's wrist.

Abstract: An archery finger tab (10) for a bowstring is taught, which consists of a tab face (20) having an index finger portion (26), a middle and ring finger portion (28) and a U-shaped slot (30). A backing member (36) is juxtaposed beneath the tab face and has the same configuration as the tab face. A mounting plate (38) is attached jointly to a rear edge of the tab face and the backing member, with the mounting plate having plurality of strap receiving slots (32). The mounting plate has a finger spacer (44) attached beneath the U-shaped slots in the tab face and backing member, and includes a snap buckle (56) attached on top of the mounting plate. A finger retaining strap (64) is attached to the mounting plate adjacent to the mounting plate forward edge and forms an index finger loop (66), a middle finger loop (68) and a ring finger loop (70). The strap (64) ends when attached to the snap buckle (56).

The protector is substantially circular in a plan view and is disposed at a position to cover near a femoral-neck portion from a side portion of a wearer. The protector is curved in a thickness direction so that an outer surface, comprising a single-layer structure composed of a polymer-foam body, is convex, and an inner surface is concave. An amount of displacement in the thickness direction when a load of 20 N is applied at a central portion of the outer surface when placed on a flat surface is 3 mm-20 mm.

Abstract: An outerwear garment that incorporates a sealable, concealed pocket sewn inside of the pouch pocket of an outer garment that features such a pouch pocket. The device consists of an outerwear garment that has a pouch pocket located at the front, center of the garment on the lower portion of the garment. The concealed pocket is sewn into the garment, inside the pouch pocket, and incorporates a concealed pocket sealing mechanism for closure. The concealed pocket located inside the pouch pocket allows an individual to store his or her personal items in a secure location while still retaining the pouch pocket for the purpose of providing the individual with a place to easily insert his or her hands or other items of lesser importance. The design of the exterior pouch pocket conceals bulky items stored within the concealed interior pocket from detection by an onlooker.

Abstract: A knitted dual-layer fabric for manufacturing garments such as underwear and sportswear for wearing in the outdoors is described. The dual-layer fabric comprises a first layer, the first layer being an inner layer adapted to be in contact with the skin and having water repellent or hydrophobic properties, and a second layer, the second layer being an outer layer having hydrophilic or water absorbent properties, and a binding interposed between the inner layer and the outer layer to bind and tie the layers.

Abstract: A medical examination dress for women that is suitable for the patient to wear in public for a physician appointment, hospital stay, recovery, etc. The medical exam dress sufficiently covers the body eliminating exposure while maintaining a woman's modesty and dignity and is designed with button mechanics for quick access to specific areas of the body or convertible to a bifurcated garment. The exam dress has buttons at the shoulder straps allowing access to both front and back upper torso areas and down both. The exam dress also buttons down both right and left sides allowing the garment to be folded up and reattached to upper side buttons for access to either front and/or back lower torso areas. There are no metal parts, thereby, allowing use in x-ray and imaging devices.

The undergarment apparatus includes a quantity of fabric is affixed to a waistband, wherein the quantity of fabric has at least two leg holes formed therein, and wherein the quantity of fabric has a first area positioned substantially between the at least two leg holes, wherein the first area is sized to support a genitalia of a user of the undergarment apparatus. At least one conduit is affixed to the quantity of fabric and positioned at least partially proximate to the first area of the quantity of fabric. A cord is positioned within the at least one conduit and movable between at least a first configuration and a second configuration, wherein movement of the cord from the first configuration to the second configuration constricts the first portion of the quantity of fabric around the genitalia of the user of the undergarment apparatus.

Abstract: Presently disclosed is a protective helmet, which may include a shell defining a shell exterior and a shell interior, and being configured to receive a wearer's head and extend to protectively cover the head circumferentially and vertically over the top of a wearer's skull; a first cushioning member disposed within the shell interior and configured for cushioning the skull; and a plurality of columnar cushioning members configured for supporting the shell on the skull and being configured for bending to allow rotational movement of the shell with respect to the skull, the columnar cushioning members having inner surfaces disposed further inwardly with respect to the shell than the first cushioning member surface to position the columnar member inner surfaces for resting against the skull and leaving a space between the first cushioning member inner surfaces and the skull.

Abstract: A helmet retention system having a first side strap system configured to connect to a first side of a helmet and a second side strap system configured to connect to an opposite second side of a helmet is provided. A chin cup and a chin cup connecting mechanism are provided. The chin cup connecting mechanism is configured to connect the first and second side strap systems in an area about the user's chin and to vary the amount of tension in the system between at least two predefined tension states. Strap adjusters provide a cam design for tensioning the straps and retaining the adjustors fixed to the straps at the desired adjustment under external force applied to the straps. Anchors provide secure mounting of the straps to the helmet.

Abstract: The present application discloses an impact liner system for a helmet. In one embodiment, the impact liner system comprises an impact liner configured to be installed in the interior of a helmet shell to at least partially line the front, rear, and middle portions of the helmet shell. The impact liner comprises a plurality of impact pads and forms a plurality of air channels between the impact pads when the impact liner is installed in the helmet shell. In certain embodiments, at least one insert is disposed within one or more of the plurality of air channels. The insert generally comprises a body portion having a top and vertical side walls configured to prohibit at least a portion of the air channel from collapsing when the helmet shell is installed on a user's head.

Abstract: A helmet for receiving the head of a hockey or lacrosse player, the helmet having an outer shell and an inner lining covering at least partially the inner surface of the outer shell. In one embodiment, the helmet comprises a skeleton at least partially covered by the inner lining, a movable occipital pad and movable temple pads. The inner lining can be made of an absorptive material such as foam, expanded polypropylene or expanded polyethylene and can be overmolded onto the skeleton. The occipital pad and the temple pads may be arranged with an inward bias so as to help the helmet self-adjust to provide an advantageous fit on the player's head. In some embodiments, the outer shell and skeleton, or the outer shell and the inner lining, cooperate to define a ventilation system.

Abstract: Grooves are formed in the inner surface of two rims, and a part of the inner side of each of the grooves is formed as a cutout section. Lenses are removed from the rims while avoiding the interference between a stopper member, which is pivotably provided to a bridge, and inner regions of the rims by pivoting downward the stopper member. Then, new lenses are inserted through the inner regions. After that, the stopper member is rotated upward and fixed to the bridge. As a result, the stopper member interferes with the inner regions of each of the rims to firmly fix the lenses within the rims.

Abstract: Various embodiments of this invention disclose a dynamically responsive shock attenuation system for apparel intended to protect boney areas of the body where skeletal structures are close to the surface and soft tissue layers are thin, that comprises two or more materials with different, narrowly prescribed physical properties which, when used together, produce a dynamic, continuous, and proportional response over a wide range of impact forces. In various embodiments of the invention, the two materials comprise a first material that exhibits generally Newtonian behavior to impact forces and a second material that exhibits generally non-Newtonian behavior to impact forces.

Abstract: Cold weather garments include one or more zones with increased thermally insulative and/or thermally resistive properties. Such garments reflect different gender needs. Such garments can allow wearers to maintain a necessary or desired degree of warmth with decreased garment weight and bulk. Methods of making such garments also are described.

Abstract: The present invention provides a shoulder pad for use in a contact sport, such as football, hockey or lacrosse. The shoulder pad includes a pair of arch members, each having an upper portion, a front portion depending from the upper portion, and a rear portion depending from the upper portion. The shoulder pad further includes at least one side pad assembly having an epaulet and a shoulder cap, wherein the shoulder cap overlies the wearer's shoulder region and the epaulet overlies both the arch member and the shoulder cap. The side pad assembly is operably secured to the body arch member by a fastening assembly that includes a flexible single band. The single band secures both the epaulet and the shoulder cap to the upper portion of the arch member.

Abstract: A reversible chest protector includes internal padding configured to absorb impacts against both the front and rear-facing surfaces of the chest protector. The chest protector includes inner and outer layers of fabric that are molded to an internal foam core. The foam core may include outer layers of closed-cell foam molded to the fabric layers, and an internal layer of open-cell foam molded to the closed-cell foam layers, such that the padding layup is symmetrical. Other features and advantages will appear hereinafter.

Abstract: A seat pad for a cycling garment includes a rear portion oriented to align with a buttocks region of a cyclist and an intermediate portion oriented to align with a perineum region of the cyclist, the rear portion being separated into two seat surfaces including a padded area and having an elongated groove extending from one of a front end or a rear end of the seat pad towards the intermediate portion, the elongated groove having a length longer than a width at the respective one of the front end and the rear end of the seat pad. It also relates to a cycling garment including the seat pad.

Abstract: An apparatus for clearing dogged drains using a vacuum. The drain unclogging apparatus includes a vacuum and a vacuum hose attached by a coupling sleeve attached to a long, flexible hose which is inserted into a dogged drain to the site of the dog. The apparatus may be used with the vacuum's negative pressure, or with the vacuum's positive pressure to achieve unclogging of a drain.

Abstract: A flexible urine deflector reduces the inadvertent spray of urine on the surfaces of a toilet during potty training of young boys. The flexible urine deflector does not have to be removed for normal usage and is virtually unseen when the toilet seat is lowered. The flexible urine deflector is easily removable when either the toilet or the deflector needs cleaning. The flexible urine deflector may also include indicia such as trade names or cartoon characters. Deodorant or fragrance saturated materials for masking the smell of urine or other undesirable odors may also be included in some novel aspects. In other aspects, suction cups are formed as part of the flexible sheet portion and connects the flexible sheet portion to the seat and rim of a toilet. In another aspect, the deflector is made of inexpensive paraffin coated paper or similar material and is disposable.

Abstract: The toilet for the disabled has a toilet bowl and toilet seat configured to face the toilet tank, thereby enabling disabled and physically debilitated persons to move forward to sit on the toilet seat. The toilet has a pedestal on which the tank is mounted, and an inverted U-shaped support member having legs attached to opposite sides of the pedestal. The support member includes a crossbar handle above the level of the tank that a disabled person may grasp for assistance in moving forward onto the toilet seat and rearward off the toilet seat. The handle may have a resilient grip. The toilet may have two independently flush handle mounted on opposite sides of the tank for operation by right-handed or left-handed users.

Abstract: A bidet system comprising an adaptor assembly, handle assembly, and attachment assembly. The adaptor assembly is adapted to be connected to a water system or other suitable liquid supply, and delivers liquid to the bidet system. The handle assembly allows a user to manipulate the flow and pressure of liquid to a discharge nozzle of the handle system. The attachment assembly is adapted to fix the handle assembly to a toilet.

Abstract: A pool cover hanging assembly includes a plurality of pool cover hanging devices. Each pool cover hanging device includes a rim engaging element including a pool wall abutting portion, a horizontally adjustable member coupled to the pool wall abutting portion at a first end, and a vertically adjustable connecting member coupled to the horizontally adjustable member. Each device also includes a vertically extending rod having a top end and a bottom end, the rod lying parallel to the exterior surface of the pool sidewall and being coupled at the top end to the vertical member of the rim engaging element. A rack arm is removably coupled to the vertically extending rod, wherein the removable rack arm is adapted to support a pool cover in a stored position.

Abstract: An air injection system for a hydro-massaging bath is described. An air convecting conduit is in communication with a plurality of injecting orifices formed in a peripheral wall of the bath. An air blower injects air under pressure in an entry opening of the air convecting conduit. A water spray injector is located downstream of the entry opening and upstream of the air injecting orifices to inject a spray of a predetermined volume of water in the injected air under pressure. A water supply conduit is connected to the water spray injector and has a flow regulating valve to regulate the volume of water spray injected in the heated air to saturate the air with water. A shut-off valve is provided in the water supply conduit, and a heater is disposed in the air convecting conduit downstream of the water spray injector and upstream of the air injecting orifices wherein heated, humidified air injected in the water contained within the bathtub does not produce a cool sensation on the body of a user person.

Abstract: A comfort bathtub has at least one heated wall portion which is comprised by a composite plyable heat generating envelope integrated with the wall portion. The heat generating envelope has a heated mesh sandwiched between a pair of protection film sheets bonded together about the heated mesh to isolate the heated mesh from molded material of the bathtub. The composite plyable envelope has electrical connections secured to a power supply. A temperature sensor is in communication with the envelope for sensing the temperature thereof. A voltage regulator controls the power supply through a controller circuit to regulate the heat generated by the heated mesh. The composite plyable envelope is configured to heat a discrete wall portion of the bathtub to provide a discrete external heated surface of the bathtub.

The kit is formed of a plurality of the trusses and four side rails, with the trusses and side rails being oriented together with their longitudinal dimensions aligned in a generally parallel orientation and with at least some of their flat sides in contact with one another. When inflated, the bladders cooperate with the other bladders to provide popliteal support for a supine occupant.

Abstract: A combination sleeve/glove pillow allows extra comfort for arm sleepers and in situations like workbreaks or unusual sleeping quarters. A padded cylindrical pillow material between 1 and 3 cm thick and between 20 to 30 cm long is covered with cloth, allowing an arm to slide through. The cylindrical section is then attach to an upper and lower hand portion, each of which include pillow material covered with cloth, and attached to each other. The pillow provides comfort under multiple scenarios while allow the user free hand movement.

Each cell has a low air permeability envelope and a foam inflation structure that defines one or more voids inside the low air permeability envelope. The foam inflation structures expand when unloaded to cause inflation of the one or more voids. When unloaded, the ratio of the volume of the foam inflation structure to the volume of the one or more voids within the low air permeability envelope is not the same in all the cells.

Abstract: An adjustable mattress comprises a carrier and a foundation. The carrier has a bed surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of first flexible members and second flexible members distributed in the carrier. One of the first flexible members and one of the second flexible members are encased in a flexible support unit. The bottom of the carrier is disposed on the foundation. The two bearing points in a stretchable direction of the first flexible member contact the bed surface and the bottom surface respectively, and one end of the second flexible member protrudes from or is concealed in the bottom surface of the carrier. The foundation has a moving plate and a lifting device. The moving plate can be lifted by the lifting device to an active position to support weights from the bed surface with the first flexible members.
