Abstract: Systems and methods for collecting data from one or more scoring candidates, storing such data in a database, and transforming such data using various techniques and software modules to generate a personal tracking and development score that determines an individual's proficiency for skills that are mapped to a job profile are depicted. Users may be ranked or compared against each other with similar units of measure. An attribute score may be used as a benefit for career development similar to the benefit a credit score may provide in assessing a user's financial records.

Abstract: A system and method that provides optimization of order and routing patterns that solves for optimal freight margin, not just freight cost. The optimization includes freight allowance information typically varying by item that is used to determine ordering and routing solutions. The solutions thus are based on freight impact to total landed product cost, not just load freight costs. Optimization results are then translated into performance targets based on freight margin, not just freight expense.

Abstract: Method and arrangement for matching of enterprises and detection of changes for an enterprise by the use of mathematical models that make it possible to match and find similarities between enterprises and also discover changes in an enterprise. The method uses mathematical representation models for enterprises and is suited to make a large number of comparisons automatically. The characteristics of the enterprises are represented by different vectors (74). The direction and length of the vectors are compared by taking the scalar product between them (76). Changes for the characteristics of an enterprise appear as changes in the direction and length of the vectors. By continuously monitoring the derivative of the characteristics of the enterprises this show how large and how quickly a change has occurred (78).

Abstract: A monitoring system for determining the future behavior of a financial system includes an empirical model to receive reference data that indicates the normal behavior of the system and input pattern arrays. Each input pattern array has a plurality of input vectors, while each input vector represents a time point and has input values representing a plurality of parameters indicating the current condition of the system. The model generates estimate values based on a calculation that uses an input pattern array and the reference data to determine a similarity measure between the input values and reference data. The estimate values, in the form of an estimate matrix, include at least one estimate vector of inferred estimate values, and represents at least one time point that is not represented by the input vectors. The inferred estimate values are used to determine a future behavior of the financial system.

Once learned, the habits of an individual can be used to make an algorithm more efficient, and hence, the user experience of an application more effective and enjoyable. The capability to more accurately infer user behavior based on user history can be employed to operate (e.g., power down or place in components standby to conserve power) user device resources in a more efficient manner. It can be identified that a user has deviated from a routine route that has associated points of interest to a new route that has associated new points of interest. Once identified, the original set of points of interest for the routine route is then updated with new points of interest. Abstract: An Internet-based web application with a database back-end that processes user-entered data to automatically carry out various functions such as updating database tables, communicating with employees, reserving office space, assigning personal identification number, and any number of tasks required to properly manage employees and their information. The application is superior to repetitive manual entry of duplicative data into each employee database that a company manages while efficiently coordinating the various departmental functions required to modify the status and information of new, existing, and departing employees. The application efficiently updates all systems within the company as needed and interacts with users when information is needed from those users at various points in the process.

Abstract: A technique for synchronizing a datum between a plurality of stores, wherein a version history is associated with the datum in each store. The version history has one or more entries, and each entry has an identifier and a value. The identifier identifies a store that has modified the datum, and indicates a number of modifications to the datum. When synchronizing the datum between stores, the version histories of the datum are compared to determine whether one version history is subordinate to another version history. The datum having the subordinate version history is then replaced with the datum having the dominant version history. Conflict resolution is required if the version histories are not identical, if the version histories do not have the same identifiers, and if one version history does not contain all of the identifiers with equal or greater values of those in the other version history.

Abstract: Methods and systems for efficient file replication are provided. In some embodiments, one or more coarse signatures for blocks in a base file are compared with those coarse signatures for blocks of a revised file, until a match is found. A fine signature is then generated for the matching block of the revised file and compared to a fine signature of the base file. Thus, fine signatures are not computed unless a coarse signature match has been found, thereby minimizing unneeded time-consuming fine signature calculations. Methods are also provided for determining whether to initiate a delta file generation algorithm, or whether to utilize a more efficient replication method, based upon system and/or file parameters. In accordance with additional embodiments, the lengths of valid data on physical blocks are obtained from physical block mappings for the files, and these lengths and mappings are utilized for delta file generation, to minimize unnecessary signature computations.

Abstract: A client node on which a file system is mounted can be configured to efficiently handle content access requests after a snapshot is created. The client node can maintain generation numbers at a data block, a file, and a fileset level to determine whether a data block is part of a snapshot generation and consequently whether the data block is writable in a current generation. Data block mappings and write access permissions associated with the data blocks need not be revoked at the client node prior to creating the snapshot. Cached data block mappings can be accessed to identify data blocks for servicing a read request. The data block can be updated in place if the data block is not part of the snapshot generation. The write request can be serviced at a new data block if the data block is part of the snapshot generation.

Abstract: Method, system, and programs for computing similarity. Input data is first received from one or more data sources and then analyzed to obtain an input feature vector that characterizes the input data. An index is then generated based on the input feature vector and is used to archive the input data, where the value of the index is computed based on an improved Johnson-Lindenstrass transformation (FJLT) process. With the improved FJLT process, first, the sign of each feature in the input feature vector is randomly flipped to obtain a flipped vector. A Hadamard transformation is then applied to the flipped vector to obtain a transformed vector. An inner product between the transformed vector and a sparse vector is then computed to obtain a base vector, based on which the value of the index is determined.

Abstract: When requested content is available at a data center, the data center returns the requested content to the data center. When the requested content is locally unavailable at the data center, the requested content is retrieved from an origin server. The retrieval of the content from the origin server may be delayed based on the processing load at the origin server. When retrieval of the content is delayed, the request is prioritized and placed in a queue for handling by the origin server based on the priority of the request. Also, when retrieval of the content is delayed, a status page may be communicated to the browser to inform a user of the delay and provide alternate content and status information related to the request determined as a function of the request or the current state of the origin server.

Abstract: A system and method of identifying fraudulent data in a contact database is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a set of contact records is received where each of the contact records includes a set of contact field values corresponding to a set of contact fields. Some embodiments determine whether a similar content pattern exists in the contact records using at least one of the set of contact field values. In some embodiments, a determination is made as to whether an unusual content pattern exists in the contact records using at least one of the set of contact field values. The set of contact records is flagged when at least one of the similar content pattern or the unusual content pattern is determined to exist in the contact records.

Abstract: The invention notably relates to a computer-implemented method for compressing data. The data is partitioned into clusters of pieces of data resulting from K-means clustering. Each cluster has a centroid. The method comprises applying (S10) a compression scheme to the data. The compression scheme preserves the centroid of each cluster and reduces the variance of each cluster. The method also comprises rescaling (S20) the data by moving the pieces of data towards the centroid of their cluster. Such a method improves the compression of data partitioned into clusters.

Abstract: A relational dependency transform is introduced as a way to exploit information redundancy in conditioning data in a relational database for better compressibility. An optimum relational dependency transform of the relational database is first computed. Fields of the relational database are then sorted topologically based on a weighted, directed graph having nodes representing predictor and predictee fields. For each predictee field in the topological order, a transformed field is then computed via the relationship between predictor and predictee in the optimum relational dependency transform.
