Abstract: A lookup is performed using multiple levels of compressed stride tables in a multi-bit Trie structure. An input lookup key is divided into several strides including a current stride of S bits. A valid entry in a current stride table is located by compressing the S bits to form a compressed index of D bits into the current stride table. A compression function logically combines the S bits to generate the D compressed index bits. An entry in a prior-level table points to the current stride table and has a field indicating which compression function and mask to use. Compression functions can include XOR, shifts, rotates, and multi-bit averaging. Rather than store all 2S entries, the current stride table is compressed to store only 2D entries. Ideally, the number of valid entries in the current stride table is between 2D-1 and 2D for maximum compression. Storage requirements are reduced.

Abstract: A LPM search engine includes a plurality of exact match (EXM) engines and a moderately sized TCAM. Each EXM engine uses a prefix bitmap scheme that allows the EXM engine to cover multiple consecutive prefix lengths. Thus, instead of covering one prefix length L per EXM engine, the prefix bitmap scheme enables each EXM engine to cover entries having prefix lengths of L, L+1, L+2 and L+3, for example. As a result, fewer EXM engines are potentially underutilized, which effectively reduces quantization loss. Each EXM engine provides a search result with a determined fixed latency when using the prefix bitmap scheme. The results of multiple EXM engines and the moderately sized TCAM are combined to provide a single search result, representative of the longest prefix match. In one embodiment, the LPM search engine supports 32-bit IPv4 (or 128-bit IPv6) search keys, each having associated 15-bit level 3 VPN identification values.

Abstract: A method of determining which users are experts and which tags are appropriate without some of the disadvantages of the prior art is described. The level of a user's expertise is determined based on previous tags, the categorization of one or more tags, and the rating of the tags previously left by the user. The appropriateness of a tag is based on previous tagging of information by the user, by the number of times a user has tagged information with the same categorization, and the rating of a user.

Abstract: Some embodiments perform automated entity ranking to accurately portray the influence that each ranked entity holds within a particular field, industry, region, or some combination thereof. The ranking is primarily derived based on the number of trade references obtained for a particular entity and the influence of those trade references. The rankings can be sold as informational commodities and can be compiled to produce lists of the most influential entities within a particular field, industry, region, or some combination thereof.

Abstract: Automatic suggestion for search query formulation is facilitated by considering social network information. A plurality of search queries can be identified as a function of a partial search query specified by a user and search history of one or more social network contacts of the user. Subsequently, these identified queries can be ranked to aid determination of a subset of the identified queries to suggest for query completion. Further, query suggestions resulting from a social network contact can be annotated to set them apart from other query suggestions.

Abstract: A system and method for constructively providing a monetization procedure for a long tail demand curve of market goods, services or contents through a channel such as the Internet or mobile devices, for which there exists a source providing economic scoring (sales, downloads, streaming hours, etc.). Using only the scorings for a few reference items and a quantitative concept of similarity between the items, embodiments provide a procedure that constructively distributes the score from the reference items to the non-ranked ones, yielding the full scoring curve adjusted to a long tail law (power law). In order to build scores for non-ranked items, the method recursively defines relative preferences between items based on their similarity, thus constructing a utility-like function. The preferences are then used within an iterative tournament strategy between the items.

Abstract: In a business where a database tracks customers and manages customer accounts, a method and system correctly link accounts with customers. The method entails reading customer information for a first customer and for a second customer, and then utilizing personal identification information obtained from other sources to determine if the first customer is the same as the second customer. If the first customer and the second customer are the same person, the first customer and the second customer are identified as being the same unique person. Accounts associated with the two customers are identified as belonging to the same unique person. Viewed another way, the method and system of the present invention takes an existing database of personal identification information, and cross-references that database against other sources of personal identification information to identify persons who appear to be separate persons, but who are actually one and the same individual.

Abstract: A system and method is provided which may comprise parsing an unstructured geographic web-search query into a field-based format, by utilizing conditional random fields, learned by semi-supervised automated learning, to parse structured information from the unstructured geographic web-search query. The system and method may also comprise establishing semi-supervised conditional random fields utilizing one of a rule-based finite state machine model and a statistics-based conditional random field model. Systematic geographic parsing may be used with the one of the rule-based finite state machine model and the statistics-based conditional random field model. Parsing an unstructured local geographical web-based query in local domain may be done by applying a learned model parser to the query, using at least one class-based query log from a form-based query system.
