An encoding region, which is allocated in a predetermined portion of the animated message and in which the input information and the playback information are stored, is divided into blocks having a predetermined size. Display information of the encoding region is generated by mapping the input information and the playback information to the blocks in the encoding region. An animated message including the predetermined handwriting region and the encoding region is generated. The generated animated message is transmitted.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.Inventors: Do-Hyeon Kim, Mu-Sik Kwon, Woo-Sung Kang

Publication number: 20130038614Abstract: Content is rendered for display using a plurality of rendering contexts. Rendering is performed, at least in part, using a graphics processing unit (GPU). The plurality of rendering contexts can comprise a lower priority rendering context and a higher priority rendering context. One or more components can be associated with each of the lower priority rendering context and the higher priority rendering context. Different restrictions can be imposed on each rendering context. Restrictions can include a restriction on block size, prioritization of requests for each context, and a restriction on the number of requests in a GPU queue at a time.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Andrew Dadi, Robert C. Publication number: 20130038615Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that drives a display from a computer system. During operation, the system detects an idle state in a first graphics-processing unit (GPU) used to drive the display. During the idle state, the system switches from using the first GPU to using a second GPU to drive the display and places the first GPU into a low-power state, wherein the low-power state reduces a power consumption of the computer system.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: APPLE INC.Inventors: Ian C. Publication number: 20130038616Abstract: A context-free (stateless) dataport may allow multiple processors to perform read and write operations on a shared memory. The operations may include, for example, structured data operations such as image and video operations. The dataport may perform addressing computations associated with block memory operations. Therefore, the dataport may be able, for example, to relieve the processors that it serves from this duty. The dataport may be accessed using a message interface that may be implemented in a standard and generalized manner and that may therefore be easily transportable between different types of processors.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2012Publication date: February 14, 2013Inventors: Dinakar MUNAGALA, Hong JIANG, Bishara SHOMAR, Val COOK, Michael K. Publication number: 20130038617Abstract: A recording apparatus for storing a screen output of at least one display device is disclosed. The at least one display device is connected to at least one processing unit for receiving a plurality of display signals forming the screen output and the recording apparatus is connected to at least one processing unit in a way that the recording apparatus functions independent of the connected processing unit. A recorder is capturing the screen output from the replica of the plurality of display signals thereon and stores into a data repository. An output interface is provided for playing the screen output on an user interface including a mobile device, or a web page or a third party application in communication with the recording apparatus. The recording apparatus may also be accessed from the remote users such that the recorded information may be accessed and played back.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2012Publication date: February 14, 2013Inventor: Jyoti Mody

Publication number: 20130038618Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes distributing rendering tasks to connected client nodes having capable graphics processing units by transmitting viewport state data objects and a unique spatial location to each of the clients, performing path tracing at each of the clients from the starting point of their unique spatial locations, and transmitting their rendered output back to the server. The server generates a composite rendered output from the individual rendered outputs received by the participating clients, and then transmits the composite to all connected clients for display. Thus, as the number of client nodes increases, the scene is rendered more rapidly and at higher quality. In particular embodiments, the rendered output is a lightmap representing the diffuse lighting for the scene, and each client may render the scene's specular highlights from its own viewport.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: OTOY LLCInventor: Julian Michael Urbach

Publication number: 20130038620Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for redistributing geometric primitives generated by tessellation and geometry shaders for processing by multiple graphics pipelines. Geometric primitives that are generated in a first processing cycle are collected and redistributed more evenly and in smaller tasks to the multiple graphics pipelines for vertex processing in a second processing cycle. The smaller tasks do not exceed the resource limits of a graphics pipeline and the per-vertex processing workloads of the graphics pipelines in the second cycle are balanced and make full use of resources. Therefore, the performance of the tessellation and geometry shaders is improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Inventors: Ziyad S. Hakura, Emmett M. Publication number: 20130038622Abstract: A method for compensating images, applied to an e-paper display where pixels are arranged as a pixel array displaying N-level grayscale images. Standard images from a first standard image to an N-th standard image which respectively correspond to a first-level grayscale value to the N-th-level grayscale value are provided. The e-paper display respectively displays the standard images. Actual grayscale values of each pixel of the e-paper display, from a first actual grayscale value corresponding to the first standard image to the N-th actual grayscale value corresponding to the N-th standard image, are obtained. Each m-th actual grayscale value is compared with an m-th-level grayscale value to generate an m-th compensating matrix, wherein m is a positive integer from 1 to N. Therefore, compensating matrices from a first compensating matrix to an N-th compensating matrix are generated and used to compensate an input image of the e-paper display.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2012Publication date: February 14, 2013Inventor: Chang-Jing Yang
