Abstract: An ink supply apparatus of a printing press includes at least one inking device. In the inking device, an ink fountain roller is rotatably supported. An ink fountain main body forms a space to store an ink together with an outer surface of the ink fountain roller. A guide member slidably supports the ink fountain main body and guides the ink fountain main body between a first position where the space is formed and a second position spaced apart from the ink fountain roller than the first position. A doctor including a blade is attached to a doctor holding member between the ink fountain main body and the ink fountain roller when the ink fountain main body is located at the second position. The blade abuts against the ink fountain roller and cleans the ink fountain roller.

Abstract: A method of printing on a sheet of paper comprises drawing a first sheet of paper from a first paper source into a printer having an optical scanner and a print head, scanning a first face of the first sheet to determine the presence or absence of print thereon. In response to detecting print on the first face, the print head is caused to print an obstruction on the first face. In response to detecting no print on the first face, the print head is caused to print new matter on the first face. The method enables a printer to accept used paper while eliminating confusion over which face contains the new matter.

Abstract: A tricolor signal flare projectile configured for use with a “high-low” projectile launching system such as the U.S. Army's M-433. The projectile includes a body having a cylindrical side wall and an aft closure. The body's forward portion is open, which provides access to a hollow interior. A delay assembly is installed in the aft closure. The delay assembly includes a delay column. A signal igniter is located just forward of the delay column in the hollow interior of the body. The hollow interior also includes separate volumes of red, white, and blue illuminant. An ogive closes over the top of the hollow interior of the body, thereby encapsulating the other components. When the projectile is fired from a launcher the propellant gases burning with the launcher ignite the delay column. The delay column burns while the projectile travels along its trajectory. After the passage of a desired time interval, the delay column ignites the signal igniter.

Abstract: An improved pet grooming tool is provided for grooming pets and removing loose or detached hair from their fur coats, while removing substantially no or acceptably little live hair and without the need to include any blade portion for engaging the loose or dead hairs. The tool can also collect the removed hair as opposed to permitting most of it to fall to the floor. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the grooming tool includes an elongated handle portion having proximal and distal ends, a head portion at the distal end of the handle, and a carding portion on the head. A tool axis extends in a proximal direction from the head to the proximal end and in preferred embodiments of the invention, corresponds to the direction in which the tool is drawn across the animal's coat (the grooming direction). The grooming tool also has a plurality of tines, with a generally triangular shape when viewed from their sides or top, such that they narrow when extending from base to tip.

Abstract: The present invention is intended to reduce the friction of an internal combustion engine in a suitable manner when the internal combustion engine is in a cold state, thereby to attain the reduction of fuel consumption as well as the reduction of exhaust emission. In order to achieve this object, a lubrication system of an internal combustion engine of the present invention is provided with a generator which is capable of carrying out heat exchange with lubricating oil in the internal combustion engine, wherein an amount of electric power generated by the generator is increased when the temperature of the lubricating oil is lower than a target temperature. According to this lubrication system of an internal combustion engine, it becomes possible to quickly raise the temperature of the lubricating oil to the target temperature with the heat produced by the generator.
