Abstract: A method for producing an alkali metal hydroxide, comprises providing an electrolytic cell that includes at least one membrane having ceramic material configured to selectively transport alkali metal ions. The method includes introducing a first solution comprising an alkali metal hydroxide solution into a catholyte compartment such that said first solution is in communication with the membrane and a cathode. A second solution comprising at least one alkali metal salt and one or more monovalent, divalent, or multivalent metal salts is introduced into an anolyte compartment such that said second solution is in communication with the membrane and an anode. The method includes applying an electric potential to the electrolytic cell such that alkali metal ions pass through the membrane and are available to undertake a chemical reaction with hydroxyl ions in the catholyte compartment to form alkali metal hydroxide.

The valve element includes a valve body which cooperates with the valve seat and which is arranged on the first end disk so that it is axially movable and is inside of and surrounded by the filter medium.

Abstract: Provided is a filtration system for filtering contaminants and impurities from a coolant, such as water, applied to an air conditioner unit for cooling the air conditioning unit to increase the efficiency thereof. The filtration system filters the coolant to achieve a desired purity level to allow the coolant to mitigate corrosion or particle buildup on the air conditioning unit when the coolant is applied thereto. Along these lines, if the purity level is too low, the contaminants present in the coolant may corrode the air conditioning unit. Conversely, if the purity level is too high, the coolant itself may react with the air conditioning unit, which may lead to corrosion or other structural issues. Thus, the filtration system is specifically configured and adapted to purify the coolant to achieve a purity level within a desirable purity range.

Abstract: A fluid separation apparatus for separating a fluid mixture including at least two fluids having different densities comprising a vessel having a vortex generation zone located within a fluid reservoir which includes a vortex generation wall which increases the rotational velocity of a fluid mixture flowing through the vortex generation zone and directs the fluid mixture from the fluid inlet toward the upper surface of the fluid reservoir. The vessel also includes a fluid inlet which extends into the vortex generation zone; a first fluid outlet through which the less dense fluid exits the vessel; and a second fluid outlet through which the denser fluid exits the vessel. The apparatus further comprises a gas bubble generator which introduces gas bubbles into at least a portion of the fluid mixture before the fluid mixture enters the vessel through the fluid inlet.

Abstract: A drainless reverse osmosis (RO) water purification system provides relatively pure water for on-demand dispensing, while recycling brine to a domestic hot water system. The drainless purification system includes a pre-filter catalyst cartridge for removing chlorine-based contaminants from a tap water supply upstream from an RO membrane. The catalyst is regularly refreshed by a high through-flow of water to a conventional cold water dispense faucet, thereby significantly prolonging the service life of the RO membrane. The RO membrane is incorporated into a multi-cartridge unit adapted for facilitated slide-out removal and replacement as needed. A control valve recycles brine from the RO membrane to the hot water system during pure water production, and recirculates tap water through the RO membrane when a pure water reservoir is substantially filled. The multi-cartridge unit may further include an air filtration system for providing a flow of filtered air.

Abstract: A water treatment system having a sealing enclosure for separating an electronics module from a water treatment assembly within the housing of the water treatment system. The sealing enclosure is a one-piece component having a perimeter seal that extends continuously around the periphery of the sealing enclosure. The perimeter seal is configured to directly engage the housing to automatically create a seal as the sealing enclosure is installed in the housing. The sealing enclosure includes a stationary portion and a movable portion joined along a living hinge. The movable portion covers an accessible compartment and can be selectively swung open about the living hinge to provide access to the interior of the accessible compartment, for example, to replace the batteries. The movable portion can be closed to reengage the housing and reestablish the seal. The electronics module may include an electronic components mounting bracket. The sealing enclosure may be mounted to the bracket.

Abstract: The invention relates to a filter device, in particular for fluids polluted with admixtures of water, such as diesel oil, comprising a filter housing (1) which has a fluid inlet (43) and a fluid outlet (44) and in which at least one filter element (9) can be received. During the filtering process, the respective fluid can flow through the filter medium (11) of the filter element from the unfiltered side (14) to the filtered side (13) of the filter medium, which surrounds an inner filter cavity (17). On at least one side of the filter medium (11), a water-separating system (23) having a separating region (25) for separated water is present. The water separating system is connected via at least one water opening (35) that is open toward the separating region (25) to a water collecting chamber (45), and the filter element (9) has a passage (29) that forms a fluid connection to the inner filter cavity (17) and can be connected to an element receptacle (47) of the filter housing (1).

A main suction slit and a sub-suction slit are provided in parallel by a partition. Thereby, pile threads undergo delayed straightening and fluctuation while going through the sub-suction slit and then are rapidly straightened in the main suction slit.
