Abstract: An inhalable cold plasma mask device for generation of a breathable cold plasma for delivery to a patient. A biocompatible gas is received in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) device that is energized by an electrode that receives energy from a pulsed source. The DBD device can be grounded by a grounding structure. A grounding screen can be used prior to inhalation of the cold plasma. The inhalable cold plasma mask device includes the use of a single-layer or a two-layer approach to its construction. The inhalable cold plasma mask device can have one or two DBD devices. Such a device and associated method can be used to treat upper respiratory tract infections, as well as reducing inflammation, sinus and esophageal polyps in both size and frequency of occurrence.

Abstract: An patient interface that reliably maintains a seal between it and the patient. The patient interface advantageously includes a deformation portion at its point of connection with an air supply, with the deformation portion being relatively more deformable than the other portions of the patient interface in order to resist torque applied by the air supply from disturbing the seal between the patient interface and the patient. While the air supply is pivotably connected with the patient interface and is pivotable about a pivot axis, a torque applied about an axis other than the pivot axis results in deformation of the deformation portion and thus advantageously avoids breaking the seal between the patient interface and the patient.

Abstract: A tube-positioning device mounted on a breathing mask and holding a breathing tube has a headgear buckle and a tube retainer. The headgear buckle has a pivot bracket formed thereon and having a pivot hole defined through the pivot bracket and an annular groove defined radially in the pivot bracket. The tube retainer is mounted detachably and rotatably on the headgear buckle and has two resilient arms, a clamping recess, a pivot shaft and two hooking arms. The resilient arms are curved and the clamping recess is formed between the resilient arms. The hooking arms are formed respectively on and protrude down from the resilient arms and detachably engage and hook in the annular groove of the pivot bracket. Pressing the resilient arms toward each other disengages the hooking arms from the annular groove to rapidly detach the tube retainer from the headgear buckle.

Abstract: Semiconductor wafers are treated in a liquid container filled at least partly with a solution containing hydrogen fluoride, such that surface oxide dissolves, are transported out of the solution along a transport direction and dried, and are then treated with an ozone-containing gas to oxidize the surface of the semiconductor wafer, wherein part of the semiconductor wafer surface comes into contact with the ozone-containing gas while another part of the surface is still in contact with the solution, and wherein the solution and the ozone-containing gas are spatially separated such that they do not come into contact with one another.

Abstract: A cylindrical dedusting apparatus has an upper material infeed opening to introduce material into a frusto-conical infeed hopper centered over the tip of a conical wash deck supported over an air infeed conduit. Air is blown through slots and openings in the surface of the wash deck to separate dust and debris from the particulate material. The dust-laden air is discharged by passing between the infeed hopper and a cylindrical sleeve to enter into a circular collector for discharge from the apparatus. Flow rate of material over the wash deck is adjusted by vertically moving the infeed hopper within the sleeve relative to the wash deck, the tip serving as a stopper to define the dimension of the gap through which material flows onto the wash deck. Cleaned material passes through a lower discharge opening while dirty air is removed through a radially oriented discharge conduit from the circular collector.

Abstract: A two level conduit docking port for a dishwashing appliance is described. The docking port is provided having an upper port and a lower port, either of which is opened depending upon the position of a sliding valve that moves along the vertical direction. Movement of the valve to open either the upper port or the lower port is caused by contact between a protrusion on the sliding valve and a conduit attached to a height-adjustable rack. As such rack is pushed into the wash chamber of the dishwasher, the valve is moved vertically depending upon the vertical level of the rack.

Abstract: In this prototype Thermoelectric Generator (TEG), a new configuration of ionized gas in a container under electric potential difference has been theoretically studied. This device is proposed to generate electric power from ambient air based on the Kinetic Theory of Gases. This prototype TGE has been designed based on the idea of making a number of ionic molecules move toward a selected direction. This prototype TEG has a similar functionality to that of photovoltaic device that is confined by the statistical limits of energy distribution over photons that have the ability to make a photoelectric effect releasing free electrons with energies greater than the voltage threshold, but in this prototype TEG, the advantage is taken from extracting power directly from the moving molecules forming gas. This design is convenient to be installed indoors to produce cold air and generate electric power.
