Abstract: A well barrier for sealing a downhole conduit is described. The well barrier includes a housing defining a throughbore having a longitudinal axis, a valve actuator and a flapper valve. The flapper valve includes a flapper attached to the valve actuator. The flapper valve and the valve actuator are axially movable with respect to the housing in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis. The flapper is adapted to move from one of a throughbore open and throughbore closed positions to the other of said open and closed positions when the actuator and flapper valve move a predetermined axial distance.

Abstract: A layer of permeable material is positioned on an area of lost circulation lithology in a wellbore. An example of the permeable material includes a planar member with perforations that is rolled into and retained in an annular configuration. The permeable material is lowered into the wellbore adjacent the area of lost circulation and allowed to unroll and expand radially outward against walls of the wellbore. The wellbore wall along the area of lost circulation lithology can be reamed out so the layer of permeable material is out of the way of a drill bit. A bridging agent can be applied on the interface where the permeable material contacts the wellbore wall.

Abstract: A method for transitioning a rigid or semi-rigid tool around a whipstock having a curved internal guide channel. The apparatus and method entail the tool meeting specific proportion criteria relative to the narrowest part of the curved guide channel through which it must pass and relative to the length and width of the tool. In lateral borehole related applications, if the wider ends portions of the tool are of approximately the same diameter of the borehole, the tool can be stabilized as it travels through the guide channels and creates and transitions a lateral borehole. The disclosure is particularly suited to tools that are rotated through the curved whipstock and in certain applications offers such tools the benefit of a reduced number of segments or links and hence reduced costs and failure points. The method described herein can be used with a variety of tool types and for a variety of purposes and may increase the applicability of tools otherwise only feasible on wellbores of a larger diameter.

Abstract: A string is equipped with a braking device to regulate its speed into the wellbore through an existing tubular. When the targeted amount of overlap with an existing tubular is accomplished the two tubulars are then joined together. The braking system can take many forms such as externally mounted mechanisms that are speed responsive to vary the braking force. The inside of the tubular can have trapped gas to provide buoyancy and reduce the dropping speed. The braking can be accomplished hydraulically through regulated flow through the tubular or by a combination of a hydraulic and mechanical device. The momentum of the dropped string can also be controlled with a swage device that at the appropriate location lands on a taper and wedges or fuses itself to the surrounding tubular to gain support from the surrounding tubular.

Abstract: A method for cold manufacturing horseshoes utilizes a laser cutter, a hydraulic press, and a sanding belt to cut horseshoes from a sheet of material without heating up the sheet of material. Information, including dimensions of the horseshoe as well as position and size of a plurality of nail holes, is fed into a control computer for the laser cutter. The laser cutter cuts an outline of the horseshoe from the sheet of material, as directed by the control computer. The laser cutter also creates nail outlines, providing a guide for the second step involving the hydraulic press. Once the nail outlines are created an appropriately sized punch is selected for the hydraulic press. The hydraulic press uses the punch to bore through the outlines, creating beveled nail holes. The horseshoe is then moved to a sanding belt, where a rear surface and edge of the horseshoe is sanded smooth.

Abstract: Disclosed are a flip-chip carrier having individual pad masks (IPMs) and a fabricating method of a MPS-C2 package utilized from the same. The flip-chip carrier primarily comprises a substrate and a plurality of the IPMs. The substrate has a top surface and a plurality of connecting pads on the top surface. The IPMs cover the corresponding connecting pads in one-on-one alignment where each IPM consists of a photo-sensitive adhesive layer on the corresponding connecting pad and a pick-and-place body pervious to light formed on the photo-sensitive adhesive layer. After the photo-sensitive adhesive layers are irradiated by light penetrating through the pick-and-place bodies, the pick-and-place bodies can be pulled out by a pick-and-place process to expose the connecting pads from an encapsulant. The issues of solder bridging and package warpage can easily be solved in conventional MPS-C2 packages.

The substrate has a patterned first metal layer, a pattern second metal layer and a through hole. After that, a first dielectric layer and a second dielectric layer are formed at a first surface and a second surface of the substrate, respectively. The second surface is opposite to the first surface. Then, the first dielectric layer and the second dielectric layer are patterned. After that, a first trace layer is formed at a surface of the patterned first dielectric layer. The first trace layer is embedded into the patterned first dielectric layer and is coplanar with the first dielectric layer. Then, a second trace layer is formed on a surface of the second dielectric layer.

Abstract: Disclosed is a braided wire processing method. An operation is carried out wherein a braided wire is folded over with an end portion of a first ring member, forming a braided wire fold over portion; and the outer circumference portion and a cutout portion of the first ring member, as well as a conductor of a grounding line, are covered with the braided wire fold over part. Next, an operation is carried out wherein the exterior side of the braided wire fold over portion passes through a second ring member from the wire axial direction. As the second ring member passes thereupon, the second ring member compresses the first ring member in the circumferential direction thereof. The gap of the cutout part of the first ring member is thus contracted, and the conductor that projects therein is clasped.
