Abstract: A ranging system includes a drill string comprising a bottom hole assembly (BHA). A plurality of ranging devices are positioned in a spaced-apart orientation on the drill string and are operable to provide a conducting contact with a formation. At least one insulator member is positioned on the drill string between the plurality of ranging devices and is operable to provide a non-conducting contact with the formation. During drilling operations, the plurality of ranging devices provide conducting contact with a formation while the at least one insulator member provides non-conducting contact with the formation so to enhancing ranging operations while drilling. A method of modeling and simulating drill string response is provided to identify locations along the drill string for positioning insulator members.

Abstract: A drill stem test conducted through the drill string of a wireline coring system using a downhole tool comprising test zone packers, a valve packer, a latching assembly with a clump valve and main valve, all of which are conveyed on the wireline with a communications cable and inflation tube, to seat in the core barrel. Gas pressure drives the liquid level in the drill string down to a suitable test level which is retained by inflating the packer system to seal a valve packer within the drill string, and isolating the test zone using single or dual packers. The compressed gas is relieved from the drill string leaving it unpressurised and with a depressed liquid level therein. A valve can be opened by raising the drill string to induce inward fluid flow, and after a flow period the valve is shut by lowering the drill string. A pressure recovery process then takes place, in which the pressures are measured by downhole transducers and transmitted to surface via the communications cable.

Abstract: A self-rescue system and a method for providing self-rescue to fall-victims suspended in fall-arresting safety harnesses following an accidental fall enables such suspended fall victims to descend to the ground or other place of safety at a controlled, safe velocity, without assistance from anyone else. In addition, the invention can also address applications in many types of elevated locations where a controlled descent is needed in order to escape emergency conditions.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to lubrication systems for a jet aircraft engine. The system includes an oil tank with a high level sensor and a unit for monitoring the level of oil in a lubricating system. The monitoring unit includes a first input for a high oil level oil level signal, and a second input for a signal that the engine is running, and an output capable of generating an alarm signal. The monitoring unit is configured to generate an overfilling alarm signal, provided that the engine is running and the oil level is equal to or greater than the high level over a given period. This double condition avoids false positives, especially for engines subject to the phenomenon of “gulping”. For these engines the oil level in normal operation is significantly lower than when stopped. These measures can thus provide a reliable means of detecting overfilling.

Abstract: An architecture is presented that provides a lubricating kit that discloses an easy to follow system of product application. The lubricating kit comprises a lubricating guide and a purpose built case for housing the lubricants. The lubricating guide provides lubrication instructions and identifies each product and surface where each product is applied. The purpose built case comprises all types of industrial lubricants that technicians or other lubricant users may need. The lubricants comprise product labels that follow the lubrication guide. Specifically, the product containers of the lubricating kit are color coded and numbered to correspond with the colors and numbers on the lubricating guide, thus allowing a user to identify a specific product for a specific surface and purpose. Thus, the lubricating guide identifies a surface in need of lubrication, recommends a specific product for the task, and provides basic application directions and durability estimates.

Abstract: A device for converting gravitational force to energy. The device comprises a rotor (1). The rotor comprises a first outer chamber within which is contained a first displacement chamber (13), a second outer chamber within which is contained a second displacement chamber, and a outer shell (2). A piston (9) is slidably received in the casing between the first displacement chamber and the second displacement chamber, above the first displacement chamber. When the piston slides in the casing towards the first displacement chamber, displacement fluid (17) exits the first displacement chamber and enters the second displacement chamber, thereby causing the second displacement chamber to be heavier than the first displacement chamber. A pivot point (6), connected to the drive shaft, is provided wherein the rotor can rotate such that the second outer chamber becomes lower than the first outer chamber. A generator (19) is coupled to the shaft.
