Patent number: 8416416Abstract: The invention provides an SPR measuring method and a measuring system thereof. According to the measuring method, first, a linear-polarized coherent broadband pulsed light beam is incident onto a surface of a sample under detection of a SPR sensing device to cause reflection; next, a time-domain monotonous chirp is performed on the incident coherent broadband pulsed light and/or the SPR reflected light; finally, the time-domain monotonically chirped SPR reflected light beam is detected, and information of the SPR effect is obtained according to the detected signal. According to the invention, the spectrum detection method used in conventional slow wavelength interrogation is converted into the high-speed real-time detection of time-domain pulse shape signals. Thus, the procedure of the SPR reaction may be monitored closely, and dynamical curves with very high time resolution may be obtained, in that case, fast biochemical reaction procedures may be monitored.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2007Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignees: National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Beihang UniversityInventors: Zheng Zheng, Yuhang Wan, Xin Zhao, Jinsong Zhu, Jiangfeng Fan

Patent number: 8416420Abstract: An optical testing system includes a computer generated hologram (CGH) and an imaging element (IE). Both are disposed in a path of light traveling between a wavefront measuring system (WMS) and an object under test. The CGH is located a first distance from the WMS and the IE is located a second distance from the WMS. The IE is further away from the WMS, than the CGH is from the WMS, along the path of light. The center of curvature (CoC) of the object under test is also disposed in the path of light, in which the CoC is located a third distance from the WMS. The third distance is larger than the second distance, along the path of light. The IE forms an image of the object under test at the CGH; and the CGH is configured to provide a null wavefront for the image of the object under test at the CGH. The null wavefront is received by the WMS. Moreover, the IE of the optical testing system may include an imaging lens having a planar surface facing away from the CGH and a convex surface facing toward the CGH.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2010Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Exelis, Inc.Inventor: Eugene Olczak

Patent number: 8416425Abstract: Correction factors for the ALR and PTR parameters of magnetic-head sliders are determined by calculating an effective reflectivity and a corresponding PCOR at each pixel of the air-bearing surface. The absolute value of reflectivity at each pixel of the AlTiC air-bearing surface is obtained from an empirical equation relating it to modulation. The ratio of Al2O3 and TiC in the AlTiC surface is then calculated at every pixel assuming a linear relationship between the absolute value of AlTiC reflectivity and the theoretical reflectivity of each constituent. The linear relationship is then also used to calculate the effective (complex) reflectivity for the AlTiC material from the relative concentrations of Al2O3 and TiC at each pixel.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2012Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Bruker Nano Inc.Inventors: Florin Munteanu, Dong Chen, Erik Novak, G. Patent number: 8416459Abstract: An image processing apparatus for converting input image data into output image data for an image forming apparatus configured to output an image with the use of coloring material, which includes a unit configured to perform a coloring-material usage amount reduction process of converting the input image data into the output image data such that an amount of the coloring material used for color-printing the input image data becomes a target coloring-material usage amount defined based on a monochrome-printing coloring-material usage amount required for monochrome-printing the input image data.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2009Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventors: Takayuki Ito, Yoshihisa Ohta, Masakazu Yoshida, Takashi Kimura, Masanori Hirano, Naoki Nakano, Shinichi Hatanaka, Yoshiaki Hoshino

Patent number: 8416460Abstract: When edge smoothing is applied to a portion where trapping was applied, the two processes are applied to a small region, thus causing image deterioration. Hence, the invention is configured to exclusively set trapping and edge smoothing execution conditions. Then, even when application of both trapping and edge smoothing processes to an entire image is selected, one of these processes is applied to each individual pixel or region. Alternatively, an execution completion flag may be set for one of these processes, and the other process may be executed with reference to that flag.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2010Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Kimimori Eguchi

Patent number: 8416461Abstract: The spread spectrum clock generator (SSCG) includes a phase comparator detecting phase difference between input clock and feedback clock; a charge pump supplying current depending on the phase difference; a loop filter converting the current to smoothed voltage; a voltage controlled oscillator generating a spread spectrum clock signal depending on the smoothed voltage; and a modulation signal generator generating modulation signal having amplitude depending on a modulation width set value. The SSCG further includes a modulation width detector detecting modulation width of the spread spectrum clock signal while comparing the modulation width with a modulation width target value to update the modulation width set value to narrow difference between the detected modulation width and the modulation width target value, followed by feeding back the updated modulation width set value to the modulation signal generator.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2010Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Ricoh Company, LimitedInventor: Masamoto Nakazawa

Patent number: 8416462Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a first information acquisition unit, a second information acquisition unit, a third information acquisition unit, and an information embedder. The first information acquisition unit obtains target information. The second information acquisition unit obtains given information to be embedded in the target information. The third information acquisition unit obtains control information for accessing the given information. The information embedder generates embed information from the given information and the control information and embeds the embed information in the target information.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2007Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Masaki Ishii

Patent number: 8416464Abstract: Line spacing values in a document image are extracted and a variance is calculated for fluctuations in the line spacing values. When the calculated variance is higher than a preset threshold value, the document image is determined as having watermark information embedded therein. Such use of the variance in the line spacing values enables high-speed determination of the presence or absence of line-spacing watermark information. At this time, it is possible to speed up the determination by using only some line spacing values in the document, instead of using all line spacing values.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2009Date of Patent: April 9, 2013Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Koji Harada
