  • Patent number: 8464424
Abstract: A method of using an automotive engine cooling pipe apparatus for fluid-conducting installation within an engine block of an engine comprising a front tube having a proximal portion configured for at least partially slidably and sealably engaging a front sealing ring seated within a front opening of the engine block, and a rear tube telescopically engaged with the front tube and having a distal portion configured for at least partially slidably seating within a rear opening of the engine block, whereby expansion of the cooling pipe apparatus within the engine block seats the proximal and distal portions of the front and rear tubes within the respective front and rear openings of the engine block and so provides sliding and rotational resistance thereby stabilizing the installation of the cooling pipe apparatus within the engine block.

Abstract: A sleeve bearing assembly and method of construction therefore has an inner portion constructed from a plurality of yarns to provide a journal bearing surface for receipt of a journal for relative movement therein and an elastic outer portion injection molded at least partially about the inner portion. The plurality of yarns are woven together with at least some of the yarns being woven in a warp direction corresponding to a length of the journal bearing surface and in a weft direction corresponding to a circumferential direction of the journal bearing surface to form a backing of the inner portion. At least one of the plurality of yarns is provided as a self-lubricating yarn woven with the backing in a weft direction to substantially form the bearing surface radially inwardly of the backing.

  • Patent number: 8464432
Abstract: The present invention generally pertains to a saw device. More particularly, the present invention relates to a handheld centerless saw. The saw comprises a frame and a pair of driving rollers mounted to the frame for rotation. The saw also comprises an annular blade mounted between the drive rollers and functionally engaged thereby, where the blade defines frontward and backward hemispheres. At least two guide wheels are mounted to the frame, or to a cover mounted to the frame, the guide wheels being positioned in the backward hemisphere of the blade. The guide wheels are operatively engaging the inner circular edge of the blade. A drive assembly mounted to the frame is operable for urging the countersense rotation of drive rollers, thereby causing rotation of the blade.

  • Patent number: 8464433
Abstract: A human-portable MEMS azimuth sensing unit and method that determines the azimuth of a target. There is a spinning support structure, with at least a gyroscope carried by the support structure. The gyroscope has an input axis and an output signal. There is an angle resolver that measures the spin angle of the support structure relative to a reference direction and that has an output signal. Circuitry determines the target azimuth based on the phase difference between the output signals of the gyroscope and the angle resolver. The phase difference can be based on the time between zero crossings of the sinusoidal gyro and angle resolver signals. An accelerometer can also be carried by the support structure, in which case its output can be used to level the unit.
