Patent number: 8464480Abstract: A modular fenestration system includes a collection of standardized functional units such as double hung window units, casement window units, picture window units, transom units, and the like. The functional units all share common sightlines, common glass set-back, common interfaces, common design language, and are sized according to a unique modular or incremental sizing grid. The sizing grid specifies individual window units in terms of the rough opening size in which they are designed to be installed. Individual functional units are easily combinable in a vast array of combinations to create a large number of possible composite window units. The above attributes of the functional units ensures that the composite window units are architecturally pleasing and appear as though they were custom crafted.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2009Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: Andersen CorporationInventors: James B. Patent number: 8464481Abstract: A corner block has spaced-apart front and rear sections interconnected by two spaced-apart side sections that jointly define a through-cavity that extends through the block from a top face thereof to a bottom face. Upper protrusions are provided on the top face of the block, and lower protrusions are provided inside the cavity at the bottom of the block. The upper and lower protrusions are configured and arranged relative to one another so that when two corner blocks are stacked one atop another with one block rotated 90 degrees relative to the other, the upper protrusions of the lower block interlock with the lower protrusions of the upper block to interlock the two blocks. The corner blocks are constructed in two variants, a corner block A and a corner block B, which are mirror images or opposite hands of each other. The corner blocks A and B are alternately stacked upon one another to construct a 90-degree corner of a segmental retaining wall or other wall structure.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2010Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: E. Patent number: 8464482Abstract: An assembly of precast concrete units matingly assembled on top of one another to form a whole deck footing, capable of supporting a deck, shed, porch, addition or other structure. The individual units are of manageable weight and can be moved by one person, not unlike a bag of unmixed cement. The units interlock to prevent shifting, separating, frost damage by water infiltration and heaving when placed under ground.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2010Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Inventor: Brice C. Patent number: 8464483Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an insulation system for securing cladding to the exterior surface of a building. An insulated panel has a front face and a rear face. Joining elements are defined in horizontal edges of the panel for connecting adjacent panels to each other. A horizontal attachment member, such as a nailing hem, is mounted to the rear face of the panel for attaching the insulated panel to the exterior surface. Receiving members are present on the front face of the panel, and can be located in receiving channels. The receiving member is generally made from a material that is better at retaining fasteners, such as nails, than the material of the insulated panel itself.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2011Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: Progressive Foam Technologies, Inc.Inventor: John Timothy Holt

Patent number: 8464484Abstract: A do-it-yourself kit assembly and installation method for mounting a tile assembly to a predetermined support surface, such as a kitchen backsplash. The kit assembly includes the tile assembly comprised of one or more tile sheets as well as all of the installation materials and installation tools required to accomplish the do-it-yourself installation in a timely manner. Each tile sheet includes a plurality of fixed tile pieces, which may comprise glass mosaic tiles, and a self-adherent adhesive layer, which facilitates the mounting of the tile sheets to virtually any kind of surface. A ready-to-use grout supply makes it easy to apply the optimal quantity of grout onto the mounted tile sheet(s), wherein the installation materials and tools are cooperatively provided to facilitate the installation method.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2011Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Inventor: Albert M. Patent number: 8464485Abstract: A joint cover system is operable to span a gap between two building members, wherein each building member including a first side surface and an end surface. The joint cover system comprises a first base member, a second base member, an intumescent sheet, a first fastener, and a second fastener. The first base member may be positioned on the first side surface of the first building member, and the second base member may be positioned on the first side surface of the second building member. The intumescent sheet may include a first edge positioned between the first base member and the first side surface of the first building member and a second edge positioned between the second base member and the first side surface of the second building member. The first fastener may penetrate the first base member and the first edge of the intumescent sheet. The second fastener may penetrate the second base member and the second edge of the intumescent sheet.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2011Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: Balco, Inc.Inventor: Johnnie Daniel Hilburn

Patent number: 8464486Abstract: The apparatus and method for forming a tunable crumb rubber floor pad and flooring system using the pad. The method including the steps of; determining a pad design angle to provide a floor performance; cutting strips of pad material from a relatively thin sheet of recycled crumb rubber to form strips of pad material having two angled sides cut at the pad design angle, chopping the strips into pads wherein each pad has two angled walls and two straight walls. The pads are then stapled to a plywood subfloor.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2010Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Inventors: Paul W. Elliott, Steven M. Chase
