Abstract: The invention provides novel binder, slurry and dry mix compositions for use in the production of investment casting moulds. These compositions comprise water insoluble fibers and significant amounts of uncalcined clay. The compositions display favourable separation characteristics and short drying times. The moulds formed using the compositions have a favourable green strength and conform closely to the wax pattern on which the mould is coated. Also provided are methods of producing the compositions, methods of investment casting mould production utilising the compositions and investment casting coating shells produced using the compositions of the invention.

Abstract: A visual indicator device and method for determining the presence of oily contaminants in an aqueous stream are provided. The device includes a filtration status chamber for receiving and discharging the aqueous stream, and a transparent wall enabling viewing of the chamber interior. A fluid-pervious filtration media within the chamber is infused with an absorption composition at which the contaminant on contact with the media is immobilized. The media has a surface viewable through a transparent wall of the filtration status chamber, and the stream flow path causes the stream to impinge at the media via the surface, whereby the contaminants collect selectively at the media surface and are highly visible through the transparent wall.

The top cap has a body with a first end face matching an open end configuration of the pipe, the top cap including first and second conduit portions. A bottom cap likewise includes a body with a first end face matching an opposite facing open end configuration of the pipe and an enclosed bottom portion for redirection of downward fluid flow through a first passageway communicating with the first conduit portion to upward fluid flow through a second passageway communicating with the second conduit portion. Additional features include each of the top and bottom caps having first and second arcuate shaped lobes around a cylindrical shaped central sleeve. Each of the top and bottom caps can further be constructed from an injection molding process.

Abstract: A dryer operable to separate a portion of an entrained liquid from a flow of gas includes a pressure vessel to contain the flow of gas and entrained liquid within the pressure vessel. A precooler/reheater is positioned within the pressure vessel to cool the flow of gas and the entrained liquid and an evaporator is positioned within the pressure vessel to cool the flow of gas and the entrained liquid from the precooler/reheater. A separator receives the flow of gas and the entrained liquid from the evaporator and is operable to separate the flow of gas and the entrained liquid into a flow of substantially dry gas and a liquid. The liquid collects in the bottom of the pressure vessel. A drain valve is movable between an open position and a closed position in response to the quantity of liquid within the bottom of the pressure vessel.

Abstract: Provided are adaptive heat transfer methods and systems for uniform heat transfer to and from various types of workpieces, such as workpieces employed during fabrication of semiconductor devices, displays, light emitting diodes, and photovoltaic panels. This adaptive approach allows for reducing heat transfer variations caused by deformations of workpieces. Deformation may vary in workpieces depending on types of workpieces, processing conditions, and other variables. Such deformations are hard to anticipate and may be random. Provided systems may change their configurations to account for the conformation of each new workpiece processed. Further, adjustments may be performed continuously of discretely during heat transfer. This flexibility can be employed to improve heat transfer uniformity, achieve uniform temperature profile, reduce deformation, and for various other purposes.

Abstract: A system is provided to change a temperature of an environment. A first plurality of containers store metal hydride, while a second plurality of containers store metal alloy capable of absorbing hydrogen atoms at a pressure less than a storage pressure of the metal hydride. Valved conduits link container pairs of metal hydride and metal alloy. When the valves are opened, hydrogen atoms desorbed from the metal hydride are transported through the conduit and are absorbed by the metal alloy. Desorption of the hydrogen cools the metal hydride containing container and heats the metal alloy containing container, which are each in thermal communication with the environment to cool or heat the environment via fluid circulation means. One or more container pairs may be operated to cool/heat the environment, while one or more other container pairs may be regenerated using a renewable power source.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a heat-conducting module and a method for manufacturing the same. A hollow aluminum tube (110) is put on a corresponding heat pipe (111) to form an aluminum-skinned heat pipe (11). Then, one or more aluminum-skinned heat pipes (11) are disposed in a casting space (22) of a die casting mold (2). Molten aluminum materials are filled in the die casting space (11) of the die casting mold (2) to form a heat-conducting module (1). By using a die casting process, molten aluminum materials are used to cover at least one aluminum-skinned heat pipe (11), thereby finishing the heat-conducting module (1).

Abstract: A rocker chiller 10 includes a tank 12 with a dasher assembly 26 that oscillates across the curved bottom wall of the tank. A series of central deflectors 40 are positioned at intervals along the length of the tank and another series of side deflectors 46 are mounted at intervals along the upwardly extending side walls 16 and 18 of the tank. The side deflectors are offset longitudinally with respect to the central deflectors. The offset relationship of the side deflectors and central deflectors creates serpentine paths through the elongated tank on both sides of the tank that require the carcasses to move through more of the heat exchanging liquid and which reduces the tendency of carcasses passing each other.
