  • Patent number: 8536397
Abstract: A process for the separation of the aromatic compounds benzene, toluene and xylene from an aromatics-containing reformate gasoline and pyrolysis gasoline or a coke-oven light oil or an aromatics-containing refinery stream, in which the aromatics are separated by an extractive distillation uses a novel solvent combination made up of the compounds n,n?-diformyl piperazine or 2,2?-bis-(cyanoethyl)ether in a combination with n-formyl morpholine as a second solvent for extractive distillation so that the solvent combination obtained shows a higher selectivity with regard to the aromatics to be extracted so that a lower solvent load is required. The aromatics-containing feed mixture is first submitted to a pre-distillation so that the obtained fraction has a narrow boiling point range. This fraction is then submitted to an extractive distillation in a first column, in which an aromatics-lean head product of predominantly paraffinic hydrocarbons is obtained as well as an aromatics-enriched bottom product.

  • Patent number: 8536430
Abstract: Apparatus, such as a stringed musical instrument, is provided with intonation modules that include a novel fine-tuning invention that eliminates modifying strings required of prior art comprising an improved clamping element, a hollow tube element forming a tailpiece at one end furthest the second critical point and a novel adaptor plate element connected to a base plate. Clamping the sting renders the string substantially inextensible between the clamping point and the tailpiece formed at the end of the hollow. Threading the string through the hollow tube portion delivers the string over the second critical point effortlessly. The hollow portion of the string holder element is threadedly engaged with an adjustment knob and makes bearing contact with adaptor plate for fine-tuning. The adaptor plate can be added to a unitary component forming the base plate and can provide other functions.

  • Patent number: 8536431
Abstract: A fulcrum tremolo includes intonation modules for fine tuning or macro tuning, an unitary component forming a base plate and an adaptor plate. An improved bearing arrangement features integrated riser posts, combining the bearing axle housing with traditional riser posts, an improved bearing axle supporting bearings positioned within recesses in a bearing housing. A plain end and a threaded end of the bearing axle cooperate with a riser post having a larger plain opening and a second riser post having a threaded opening. The plain end and a ring spacer, positioned between a bearing and the second riser post, positions the bearings away from the tremolo wherein the axle is slideably positioned within the first riser post as the second end of the axle is threadedly secured to the second riser post and thereby adjustably secures the bearing arrangement relative to the body of the instrument for pivotal movement.

  • Patent number: 8536433
Abstract: The present invention describes a harness apparatus for supporting objects, specifically stringed musical instruments, such as guitars, that allows the weight of the object to be borne by the hips and waist of the wearer and not the wearer's back, shoulders, and/or neck. The apparatus possesses a shapeable, padded rigid frame component that is associated with and rises from a padded waist belt component. The apparatus is profoundly adjustable and can be used by males, females, left-handed and right-handed persons. Advantages to an apparatus such as this include a reduction in back, shoulder, and/or neck strain, discomfort and fatigue that is normally associated with load supporting devices that bear the load's weight from the wearer's upper body. An equipment strap support loop is located on top of the inverted T frame. This support loop functions to replace the human neck and shoulders to support the equipment support strap.

  • Patent number: 8536434
Abstract: The resonant drum head mounted speaker cone retrofit kit improves the sound of the drum on audio recordings and in live sound situations and changes the way the drum is miked in live and studio applications. The center of the resonant drumhead is cut out and a speaker cone assembly is attached thereon facing outwards. The speaker cone, which also vibrates from this pressure, now becomes the miked surface of the instrument. Using otherwise conventional miking techniques, a wider range of attack and tone characteristics can be obtained from the drumhead. Additionally, use of optional speaker cone sizing, composition options and differences in tension also contribute to define and tune the sound characteristics based on end user preference.

Abstract: A support structure for a percussion instrument has a support member configured to suppress the transfer of vibrations to the floor surface, and provide stability during performance. The entire percussion instrument and a portion or all of the pedal device are elastically supported above the floor, on the support member through the first vibration isolating members. Vibrations from the percussion instrument member and the pedal device are dampened by the first vibration isolating members. The first vibration isolating members are provided between the support member and the percussion instrument member, to suppress the transfer of vibrations to the floor surface, while the support member is stably supported on the floor surface.
