Abstract: Described are methods and apparatus for the selective removal of CO2 from a mixture of gases. The method comprises contacting a first gaseous mixture containing CO2 in an absorber with an absorbent having substantial selectivity for CO2, thereby forming a second mixture of absorbed CO2 and absorbent. After separating any nonabsorbed gases from the second mixture of CO2 and absorbent, the second mixture enters a separator wherein the CO2 is released from the absorbent. The absorbent is recycled back to the absorber to start the process over. The released CO2, is then compressed in one or more stages. Each stage provides a compression step to heat the released CO2, followed by a cooling step. The heat generated during the cooling of the CO2 is captured by intercoolers and recycled to operate the capture and separating process in a substantial manner, if not entirely.

Abstract: Methods for generating and applying coatings to filters with porous material in order to reduce large pressure drop increases as material accumulates in a filter, as well as the filter exhibiting reduced and/or more uniform pressure drop. The filter can be a diesel particulate trap for removing particulate matter such as soot from the exhaust of a diesel engine. Porous material such as ash is loaded on the surface of the substrate or filter walls, such as by coating, depositing, distributing or layering the porous material along the channel walls of the filter in an amount effective for minimizing or preventing depth filtration during use of the filter. Efficient filtration at acceptable flow rates is achieved.

Abstract: The present invention deals with a variable temperature cooking method that uses a predetermined variable temperature reference profile and adapts it by mapping its datapoints to actual cooking conditions entered by the user or modified based on the readings from an internal food temperature probe. It is shown that, in order to achieve more uniform through-the-thickness doneness of foods, a continuously decreasing temperature setting from a higher initial temperature to a lower final temperature consistently performs better than applying a constant temperature or a two-step temperature profile. Use of a probe for monitoring internal food temperature enables a predictive estimate of cooking duration based on cooking score or temperature which is used to modify an initially inaccurate cooking duration.
