  • Patent number: 8684050
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed technology are directed towards a leak-proof drink dispensing system. The drink dispenser uses a container, a spigot that may be mated to a lid adapted to fit a corresponding cup. The spigot extends from an outside portion of the container, and has a lever, cylindrical nozzle, and threaded cylindrical locking collar. The lid has a threaded cylindrical spout that may be mated to the spigot, such that rotation of the lever causes the threads of the collar to engage the threads of the spot. This causes the lid to become releasably affixed to the spigot for purposes of leak-free dispensing of the liquid from the container. The drink dispenser may also employ a mixing rake, cooling tray, spill catching tray, and cup dispenser.

  • Patent number: 8684059
Abstract: A method and apparatus for tabbing a piece of folded material includes a fixture into which a folded material is manually inserted and retracted. A dispensing device automatically dispenses a length of adhesive tape that may be pinked on at least one edge, and a cutting device separates the length of pinked tape from its source. A lower platen slides below the inserted media and traps a piece of the adhesive tape between the lower platen and the media. An upper roller or sliding member moves over the opposite side of the media for folding the remaining portion of the adhesive tape over the opposite side of the media and causing good contact between the adhesive surfaces of both portions of the folded adhesive tape and the media, thereby completing the sealing action. The media then is retracted manually.

Abstract: A system for attaining and maintaining a pre-determined fluid level in a petroleum-producing well having a pump, such as a progressive-cavity pump, and a pump motor having a variable-frequency drive control using two sensors: a pump pressure sensor located at the pump depth and a casing pressure sensor located at the casinghead of the well. A programmable computer is connected to the first and second pressure sensors and the motor speed control so that the programmable computer controls the operation of the pump motor to attain and maintain a target fluid level in the well over a predetermined time interval for reaching the target fluid level in the well. The programmable computer computes an error signal to control a variable frequency drive motor, where the error signal is computed periodically from the difference between in the actual fluid level in the well and the target fluid level in the well according to a rate reference curve.

Abstract: Described is a way to reduce solvent usage in solvent-dominated oil recovery processes through the use of an emulsion. Injection of an emulsion into an oil reservoir is performed as an alternative or supplement to solvent injection to minimize solvent usage per unit amount of oil recovered. The emulsion may contain solvent and the solvent may form an external-phase of the emulsion. A solvent-external emulsion may be injected and formed using an aqueous liquid or a gas as the internal phase. The emulsion may be an aqueous-external, vapor-internal emulsion with solvent being injected separately or simultaneously. Polymer may be added to viscosify the emulsions and use them for flow diversion in a solvent-dominated process.

Abstract: The present invention includes methods relating to the setting of fluids or slurries in a wellbore. In one embodiment, a method of isolating a portion a wellbore by preparing a sealant composition comprising a fluid component and a polymeric additive component, placing the sealant composition into a wellbore and subjecting the sealant composition to ionizing radiation. The ionizing radiation can cause bonding between polymeric additive components and create a polymer matrix within the sealant composition that increases the mechanical strength of the sealant composition.

  • Patent number: 8684083
Abstract: A perforating gun designed to orient a charge holding structure (e.g., tube, solid rod) within a barrel of the perforating gun to be at the same position relative to a wellbore casing regardless of a position of the barrel of the perforating gun. A charge assembly receivable within the barrel includes the charge holding structure and first and second end caps that are rotatably interconnected to the charge holding structure and non-rotatably interconnected to the barrel. As the charge holding structure is always or substantially always designed to maintain a common orientation in relation to the wellbore casing, explosive charges associated with the charge holding structure so as to fire towards particular location on the wellbore casing may always or substantially always perforate such particular locations upon or after the explosive charges have fired.

Abstract: A filter (13) is provided at a tip portion of an injection well (9). A pumping apparatus (5) pumps carbon dioxide stored in a carbon dioxide tank (3). The pumping apparatus (5) feeds carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide tank (3) into the injection well (9) by means of a pump. In the pumping apparatus, the pressure and temperature of carbon dioxide are maintained at respective predetermined levels or higher by means of a pressure regulation valve, a temperature regulator, etc., whereby carbon dioxide enters a supercritical state. The carbon dioxide having entered a supercritical state is fed in the direction of arrow A through the injection well (9), passes through the filter (13) provided at an end portion of the injection well (9), and is injected into a brine aquifer (11). Carbon dioxide injected into the brine aquifer (11) assumes the form of microbubbles.
