Abstract: Detecting force and touch using FTIR and capacitive location. FTIR determines applied force by the user's finger within infrared transmit lines on a touch device. A pattern of such lines determine optical coupling with the touch device. Capacitive sensing can determine (A) where the finger actually touches, so the touch device more accurately infers applied force; (B) whether finger touches shadow each other; (C) as a baseline for applied force; or (D) whether attenuated reflection is due to a current optical coupling, or is due to an earlier optical coupling, such as a smudge on the cover glass. If there is attenuated reflection without actual touching, the touch device can reset a baseline for applied force for the area in which that smudge remains. Infrared transmitters and receivers are positioned where they are not visible to a user, such as below a frame or mask for the cover glass.

A touch screen panel of a touch screen system is positioned to overlie the display screen. The touch screen system operates to make a proximate touch detection, for example by a body part or stylus. A controller receives the proximate touch information from the capacitive touch screen system and interprets the proximate touch information to determine an indication from a user of a selection of an information display orientation for the display screen. The controller then controls the display screen to present information in accordance with the user selected information display orientation. The user selected information display orientation via the proximate touch detection will over-ride any other selected information display orientation such as a selection made in response to an orientation identified by an accelerometer or other gravity influenced sensor.

Abstract: It becomes possible to use drive pulses having different pulse widths for one kind of drive pulse signal period. Therefore, even if a voltage acting on a crossing part of drive and detection electrodes is periodically changed through a stray capacitance attributed to an external object such as a finger in an undesired manner, the pulse width of the drive pulse is never fixed with respect to the period, and the periodic buildup of a certain voltage on a detection signal, which would make appreciable noise, is suppressed. Thus, the reduction of detection signals can be suppressed in quantity without switching the pulse signal frequency of the drive pulse of a touch panel.

Abstract: This relates to an architecture of a receive channel circuit used during both a spectrum analysis phase and a touch panel detection phase. Various components of the receive channel can be used during both the spectrum analysis phase and the touch panel detection phase. For example, a plurality of digital signal mixers used in the receive channel circuit can be used to demodulate signals during both a spectrum analysis phase and a touch sensor panel detection phase. In addition, the number of digital mixers needed in the receive channel can be reduced by dividing groups of signals to be demodulated into multiple sets of signals and demodulating each set at different times. Furthermore, the size of a sine look-up table (LUT) used to generate sine waveforms can be reduced by taking advantage of the symmetry of the sine waveform. For example, a quarter of a sine waveform can be saved in the LUT and the remaining quadrants of the waveform can be derived based on the symmetry of the sine wave.

Abstract: Disclosed an organic light-emitting diode display device in which the number of signal lines is minimized by sharing a predetermined signal line between adjacent pixels in a display panel having a plurality of signal lines formed therein, thereby improving an aperture ratio. The organic light-emitting diode display device includes a display panel defining pixels, a gate driver, a data driver, a multiplexer (MUX) electrically connecting an output terminal of the data driver and the pixels into a 1:1, 1:N (N is a natural number) or N:N structure, and a timing controller. Accordingly, the MUX is provided between the data driver and the pixels, and each pixel and signal lines are selectively connected through the MUX, so that it is possible to reduce the number of Integrated chips (ICs) provided by allowing a compensation circuit built in the data driver.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe a software based emulator of a graphics processing unit (GPU) that is configured to operate over a cloud-based network. A virtual image containing graphics primitives is divided into a plurality of tiles. A load balancer assigns tiles to rasterization threads in order to evenly distribute the processing load. The rasterization threads then rasterize their assigned tiles and deliver rendered pixels to a frame buffer. The frame buffer builds a frame from the rendered pixels and then delivers the frame over the network to a client device platform. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
