Abstract: A pressure control reservoir for a vehicle brake system is disposed in a hydraulic line extending from a master cylinder to a wheel cylinder through a pump. The pressure control reservoir includes a check valve which consists of a valve seat and a valve. The check valve is closed when an excessive pressure of brake fluid produced by the master cylinder. The valve is stationary. The valve seat is moved in response to an elevated level of the pressure of brake fluid into engagement with the valve, so that the check valve is closed. With these arrangements, the check valve is closed before a piston starts to move to change the volume of a reservoir chamber, thus permitting the volume of the brake fluid required to close the check valve to be decreased, which minimizes the uncomfortable feeling given to a driver of the vehicle when actuating the brakes.

Formed adjacent to the first plunger assembly is a first chamber filled with a compressed gas pressurized from 40 to 150 psi based on the time delay desired. In the main body adjacent to the first chamber is a second chamber and a third chamber. Located inside the third chamber is a second plunger with a hollow stem introduced into a top valve assembly on the canister. To activate, the first plunger assembly is pressed inward which activates a second valve disposed between the first and second chambers. The second valve allows compressed gas to flow slowly from the first chamber into the second chamber and into the third chamber.

Abstract: An autorack rail road car has an underframe having a main deck, and a rack mounted to the underframe. The rack supports one or more decks above the main deck, and also supports, or defines, an enclosure that protects the automobiles carried as lading. One way to prolong the life of the rack is to delay corrosion. Corrosion may start in locations that are difficult to clean, or that have not been cleaned prior to painting. Autorack upper decks may use longitudinally extending stringers. A stringer of closed section may be less prone to facilitating early corrosion, and may be less prone to drip rust-filled water on automobiles carried as lading. In some embodiments the stringer may be placed at a slope discontinuity in the lading deck, and may overlap that slope discontinuity.
