Abstract: Phase contrast microscopy images are collected of a liquid sample containing one or more microscopic objects. The images are analyzed to track the motion of the microscopic objects within the liquid sample. Using the updated locations of the tracking objects, a controller can generate control signals for controlling the microscopy parameters, to ensure that the portion of the liquid sample which is imaged includes the tracking objects. The tracking objects may be cells or cell-spheres. Thus, the system can, for example, track cells and cell-spheres, to observe their growth, during a long time-lapse experiment.

In overview, a DVM system is configured to include an incident trigger, which is actuated either manually or automatically in response to an “incident”. In the case of manual actuation, the definition of an incident may be subjectively determined by an operator (for example based on training and/or protocols). In the case of automatic actuation, an incident is defined by predefined criteria (for example a signal from analytics software, and alarm, or the like). In response to the actuation of the trigger, an incident identifier is defined. During the period of actuation, a plurality of recordings is automatically made, based on an incident recording protocol. These recordings are all associated with the incident identifier.

Abstract: An optical test equipment/method for display testing that features parallel testing/sensing configuration that covers spectrum and colorimetric quantities with spatial resolution is disclosed. In one embodiment, a spectra-camera, which is a hybrid system consisting of both a single-point spectrometer and an imaging colorimeter, can be configured for concurrent display artifact and parametric testing. An aperture mirror with a hole in the middle splits an image of a test display into two parts. One part of the image passes through the hole and is directed to the spectrometer for display parametric testing. The rest of the image is reflected off the aperture mirror for concurrent display artifact testing with the colorimeter. In another embodiment, a beam splitter can be used instead of an aperture mirror. In yet another embodiment, the single-point high accuracy spectrometer can be used to calibrate the low accuracy imaging colorimeter.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed pertain to mobile device based text detection and tracking. In some embodiments, a first reference frame is obtained by performing Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on an image frame captured by a camera to locate and recognize a first text block. A subsequent image frame may be selected from a set of subsequent image frames based on parameters associated with the selected subsequent image and a second reference frame may be obtained by performing OCR on the selected subsequent image frame to recognize a second text block. A geometric relationship between the first and second text blocks is determined based on a position of the first text block in the second reference frame and a pose associated with the second reference frame.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for capturing or generating images using multiple optical chains operating in parallel are described. Pixel values captured by individual optical chains corresponding to the same scene area are combined to provide an image with at least some of the benefits which would have been provided by capturing an image of the scene using a larger lens than that of the individual lenses of the optical chain modules. By using multiple optical chains in parallel at least some benefits normally obtained from using a large lens can be obtained without the need for a large lens. Furthermore in at least some embodiments, a wide dynamic range can be supported through the use of multiple sensors with the overall supported dynamic range being potentially larger than that of the individual sensors. Some lens and/or optical chain configurations are designed for use in small handheld devices, e.g., cell phones.

Abstract: The embodiments herein provide a system and method for detecting and capturing a focused image. The system comprises of an image capturing unit, edge detection unit and a focusing unit. The image capturing unit obtains plurality of images sequentially. The edge detection unit identifies region of interest in each of the obtained images and calculates edge strength value for the identified regions. The edge detection unit determines peak edge value from the edge strength values. The edge strength value quantifies degree of focus in the identified region. If the identified region is more focused, the number of edges is relatively more when compared with out-of-focus region. The peak edge value indicates that the identified region is well focused. The focusing unit causes the image capturing unit to capture focused image when the edge strength value reaches a predefined value of the peak edge value.
