Publication number: 20140194667Abstract: A method for high-dose Grid radiotherapy utilizing a three-dimensional (3D) dose lattice formation is described herein. The 3D dose lattice can be achieved by, but not limited to, three technical approaches: 1) non-coplanar focused beams; 2) multileaf collimator (MLC)-based intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) or aperture-modulated arc; and 3) heavy charged particle beam. The configuration of a 3D dose lattice is comprised of the number, location, and dose of dose vertices. The optimal configuration of a 3D dose lattice can be achieved by manual calculations or by automating the calculations for a generic algorithm. The objective of the optimization algorithm is to satisfy three conditions via iteration until they reach their global minimum. With 3D dose lattice, high doses of radiation are concentrated at each lattice vertex within a tumor with drastically lower doses between vertices (peak-to-valley effect), leaving tissue outside of the tumor volume minimally exposed.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventors: Xiaodong Wu, Mansoor M. Publication number: 20140194668Abstract: The present invention provides a portable therapeutic device for treatment of dyslipidemia, hyperviscosaemia, diabetic neuropathy, and peripheral artery disease, using rotating Static Magnetic Fields (rSMF). The device comprises a two part plastic housing with a handle and a designated treatment area, a DC motor with microcontroller and a cylindrically shaped magnet roller, which comprises magnets tightly fitted into a stainless steel sleeve capped with two bearing shafts protruded on each end. The magnet roller assembly rotates freely inside the housing with little clearance at assigned low frequency in line with the DC motor axis driven by magnetic torque from magnetic couplings, which include equally sized quad-pole magnet plates on each coupling base. The rSMF-based device produces an inhomogeneous surface intensity of 4000-7000 Gauss from its dual-pole or quad-pole parallel circuitry for an effective treatment regimen of the indicated disorders.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Applicant: DEVICE THERAPEUTICS, INC.Inventor: Darrin Hanson

Publication number: 20140194671Abstract: A method of sheathing a heart including inserting an expandable heart sheath into a living body with the sheath held in a collapsed state. The sheath is released to allow the sheath to expand inside the body. At least a portion of the heart within the body is surrounded by the expanded sheath. The method of forming a custom heart sheath includes determining a three-dimensional outer surface of a particular heart, determining a desired three-dimensional shape of a sheath for the particular heart, as a function of a shape of the determined outer surface of the heart and then forming a custom heart sheath to have the desired three-dimensional shape.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventor: Stephen Manuel Wildhirt
