Patent number: 8777133Abstract: An irrigation system and method for irrigating a field including a plurality of towers linked together by at least one rotatable torque tube. Each of the towers may comprise a frame, one or more wheels on which the frame may travel, a rotatable reel, and a line configured to be spooled onto the reel. A motor may be configured to rotate the torque tube, which may in turn actuate each of the reels to rotate simultaneously. Patent number: 8777157Abstract: The design and refinement of a tethered hovering platform into a feasible working system is presented. To determine a starting point for the design, a detailed historical search was conducted to find the history and the current state of such technology. Real world current needs are analyzed to produce a mission specification and to drive the preliminary vehicle design. Analysis of environmental conditions and decisions about an initial payload package are made in conjunction with motor and propeller sizing. Initial concept testing to discover feasibility and operational issues was performed; from this, instability issues were discovered. Analyzing these instability issues using known rotorcraft and momentum effects, in conjunction with flight testing, yields possible solutions to the problem. The use of constrained layer dampers as a means of passive stabilization is addressed and suggested as the preferred solution. Testing of passive constrained layer damping verifies the stability of the solution.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2009Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: University of KansasInventors: Ronald M. The operating button has an operating part on one end side of the pivot part, and a claw part provided on the other end side for coupling and decoupling with the teeth part of the slider. The operating button is constantly urged by an urging spring so that sliding of the slider is restricted in a state in which the claw part is coupled with the teeth part. The coupling is released by an operation opposing the urging force of the operating part so that the slider is allowed to slide against the urging force of the urging member.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2010Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Nifco Inc.Inventor: Takehiko Nemoto

Patent number: 8777175Abstract: An electronic device supporting mechanism includes a base, a top cover, a first supporting member and a second supporting member. The first supporting member and the second supporting member are rotatable relative to the base to a supporting position or a storing position. In a case that the first supporting member and the second supporting member are rotated to the supporting portion, an electronic device can be supported. Whereas, in a case that the first supporting member and the second supporting member are rotated to the storing position, the first supporting member and the second supporting member are respectively stored within two receiving spaces of the base. The electronic device supporting mechanism is advantageous for protecting the supporting components and is easily carried.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2011Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: Primax Electronics Ltd.Inventor: Chun-Che Wu

Patent number: 8777179Abstract: A drive mechanism for the movement of an object along an axis of motion comprises two clamping elements and a drive element disposed between the two clamping elements which enables a relative movement of the two clamping elements along the axis of motion. Each clamping element comprises a base body and two clamping jaws, wherein a piezo-actuator is disposed between the base body and at least one of the two clamping jaws, which can produce a clamping force acting on the object which is directed transversely to the axis of motion. The base bodies of the two clamping elements are connected by at least two expansible elements. The drive element comprises a further piezo-actuator, which enables the relative displacement of the two clamping elements along the axis of motion. The drive mechanism is suitable for application in a micro-valve.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2009Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignees: Hess Innovation GmbH, Burkert Werke GmbHInventor: Peter Hess
