Abstract: Control methods for vapor compression systems and multiple-load vapor compression systems having one or more refrigeration loops include selecting a desired set-point temperature range for a load temperature at one or more load locations. The vapor compression system is then operated to transfer heat from the one or more load locations to a rejection location. While the vapor compression system is operating, a control apparatus continually adjusts various parameters. A capacity of an adjustable-capacity compressor is adjusted to maintain with respect to an evaporator load a maximum low-side pressure of the refrigeration loop as measured by a first sensor. An adjustable rejection capacity of a rejection apparatus is adjusted to maintain a minimum high-side pressure of the refrigeration loop as measured by a second sensor. An adjustable opening of an expansion valve is adjusted to maintain a load temperature measured by the third sensor within the desired set-point temperature range.

Abstract: A variable speed drive (VSD) can be used to vary the voltage-to-frequency ratio (V/f) supplied to a compressor motor of a heating, ventilation, air conditioning or refrigeration (HVAC&R) system to make the motor stronger or weaker to compensate for varying conditions in the HVAC&R system. The VSD and corresponding control system or algorithm can monitor an operating parameter of the HVAC&R system, such as the kW absorbed by the motor, and then raise or lower the V/f of the VSD to obtain the lowest possible power consumption from the motor.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling the temperature of an electronic component of a computer. In one embodiment, a system includes a compressor, a compact cooling block, a condenser, and a controller. The compressor compresses or cools a refrigerant. The condenser receives the refrigerant and condenses the refrigerant. The compact cooling block is thermally coupled to an electronic component of a computer, receives the refrigerant from the condenser, transfers thermal energy from the electronic component to the refrigerant, and sends the refrigerant to back to the compressor. The controller is in electronic communication with the compressor and controls the compressor based on a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal in order to maintain a temperature range for the electronic component. In another embodiment, a system is provided that controls the temperature of a circulating liquid that, in turn, cools an electronic component of a computer.

Abstract: A chromatography column comprises a pipe that contains a tubular metal casing with an inlay and sealing ring. The inlay is configured as a plastics material tube and is pushed or drawn into the metal casing and a sealing ring of plastics material is connected to the inlay at the end. Because of this structure, a connection to further system parts is possible, which is carry-over-free, inert on the inside, liquid-tight, optionally gas-tight, and pressure-tight. A connection element and connection connect the pipe to feed and/or discharge lines of a capillary system. Pipes, connection elements and connections of this type are advantageously used in low and high pressure systems, such as, for example, in an HPLC column. The use of such systems is advantageous in in-vitro diagnostics and in liquid handling applications.

Abstract: A tyre pressure monitor for the paired wheels at one end of a vehicle axle in the form of a hub which bolts to the wheel using the wheel nuts. The hub contains a tyre pressure gauge for the inner wheel and a gauge for the outer wheel. Air tubes connect each tyre to the gauge and an exterior air input coupling for each tyre projects from the hub in order to be accessible to the depot air hose. The driver reads the gauge and adjusts the tyre pressure using the air input coupling when necessary. Versions with a single gauge with a separate scale for each tyre of the pair and with one gauge for a single front wheel are described.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for measuring the gluten content in a flour sample. The method includes preparing the flour, sifting it, and adding water, then pre-hydrating with water in a pre-hydrating mixer for a few seconds, until a sphere cohesive material (SCM) is obtained. Then, the sphere SCM is submerged in a container with salt water for a few minutes, to allow the structuring of the gluten. Then, the sphere is washed in a washing machine to eliminate the water soluble substances, which are not gluten. Then, the gluten structured with excess water is centrifuged in a “centrifuge”, then removed from the centrifuge and weighed. The value that is read is the measurement of wet gluten. To obtain the value of the dry gluten, dry in a desiccation stove or a Teflon® dryer.
