  • Patent number: 8844835
Abstract: A method and system for reliably detecting structure and water system leaks incorporates motion-sensing for determining whether there is activity in a building is occupied and measures humidity of the inside of the building. If there is no activity in the building, and an unexpected level of humidity or sudden change in humidity is detected, an alarm is generated and the building water system can be disabled by an electrically controlled valve. Current consumed by water-consuming and/or water vapor generating appliances can be detected and used to qualify the generating of an alarm or interruption of the water system, so that false alarms are not generated and the water supply is not interrupted due to operation of those appliances.

  • Patent number: 8844858
Abstract: A wire winding device which uses a large-sized supply bobbin, which has a large capacity and a large diameter, to highly precisely suppress a variation in tension which variation occurs when a coil is formed by winding a wire material at high speed with the wire material aligned with a winding frame. Rotation (the number of rotation, and timing) of the supply bobbin relative to rotation of the coil is controlled based on the difference between the amount of take-up of the wire material taken up on the winding frame side and the amount of pay-out of the wire material paid out from the supply bobbin, and the control is performed such that the amount of the take-up and the amount of the pay-out agree with each other every moment. This can highly precisely suppress a variation in tension even if there are large differences between inertia of and the diameters of the coil and the supply bobbin.

First and second external plies run from the first section into the second section round an inside and an outside of the corner, respectively. First and second internal plies are sandwiched between the first and second external plies, and run from the first section into the second section round the corner. The first internal fly is dropped off inside the second section. The second internal ply is dropped off inside the first section. The structure has an increased thickness where the first and second internal plies overlap.

Abstract: In an embodiment of the disclosure, there is provided an apparatus to provide a panel stiffening element. The apparatus has an outer braided thermoplastic tube and an inner braided thermoplastic tube disposed within the outer braided thermoplastic tube. The apparatus further has a separation ply layer co-consolidated between the outer braided thermoplastic tube and the inner braided thermoplastic tube. The separation ply layer provides reinforcement and impact damage resistance to the inner braided thermoplastic tube in order to avoid a loss in structural loading capability.

Abstract: Rear fuselage of an aircraft comprising a tail cone end and a rest of the real fuselage whereby the tail cone end is attached to the rest of the rear fuselage by means of an attachment system comprising a balancer fitting, three lugs and a waiting link. When there is a failure in one of the lugs, the balancer fitting acts supporting loads in the transversal direction of the aircraft. The waiting link only acts if a failure in other link occurs. This waiting link is able to support loads in the longitudinal direction of the aircraft.

Abstract: A traction kite having a variable geometry leading edge that defines a high projected central propulsive region of increased surface area along the top portion of the kite, and lateral control regions of decreased surfaces area extending on opposite sides of the propulsive region. The leading edge thus defines a concave shape when viewed from the side while in flight. Providing a variable geometry leading edge maximizes propulsive forces due to increased surface area, while enhancing control and turning performance by minimizing the surface area of the control regions, namely those generally vertically disposed regions that begin at the tips and end at the propulsive region.

  • Patent number: 8844880
Abstract: A heliplane operates with a fixed wing at high velocities, and particularly at high advance ratios, while using a rotary wing maintained in motion at all speeds. At high advance ratios, the rotor wing eventually may be rotated primarily to maintain its stability, rather than depending upon the majority of lift. Meanwhile, a collective pitch control is provided and located between pilot and copilot. A single control provides control of both collective pitch and throttle by both pilots. One pilot will have to operate the control with the left hand, while the other may use their right hand. Nevertheless, both throttles push away from the pilot, regardless of which one is in control of the aircraft, while a single collective lever is relied upon.
