Publication number: 20140311593Abstract: A relief valve having a crenelated exhaust ring surrounding the poppet. The crenelated exhaust ring comprises a series of alternating crenels and merlons which together define an increasing cross-sectional exhaust area circumferentially about the poppet during cracking (i.e., once the pressure in the inflatable device exceeds the cracking pressure) as the poppet rises in the relief valve in response to increased pressures and, conversely, a decreasing cross-sectional exhaust area about the poppet during closing as the poppet lowers to its re-seated, sealed position. The design of the crenels in the form of a larger upper cross-sectional area to a smaller lower cross-sectional opening, advantageously achieves a reseating pressure that is substantially equal to or slightly less than the cracking pressure while minimizing possible oscillations during re-seating of the poppet.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2014Publication date: October 23, 2014Applicant: HALKEY-ROBERTS CORPORATIONInventor: Lyman Fawcett

Publication number: 20140311602Abstract: An integrated valve assembly, which integrates two check valves and a solenoid assembly which functions as a purge valve. When the solenoid assembly is in an open position, during a first mode of operation, vacuum pressure places the first check valve in an open position and the second check valve in a closed position, and during a second mode of operation, pressurized air places the first check valve in a closed position, and vacuum pressure generated by a venturi valve member places the second check valve in an open position. Each check valve utilizes a nylon insert along with an over molded rubber seal. The design of the check valves prevents actuation at low vacuums and flows when the vehicle is shut off. The integrated valve assembly eliminates the need for an OBD relief valve, and simplifies the EVAP system, saving costs, complexity, and eliminates several possible leak connections.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2014Publication date: October 23, 2014Applicant: Continental Automotive Systems, Inc.Inventors: Robert Douglas Jefford, John Nelson Lloyd

Publication number: 20140311634Abstract: A blasting explosive composition containing a solid inorganic oxidising salt as the oxidizer component, a hydrocarbon liquid as the fuel component, and a binding agent. The composition can also contain an ammonium nitrate based emulsion. The binding agent can increase the water resistance, or increase the sleep time, of the explosive composition, or increase the fuel oil absorbency of the solid inorganic oxidising salt. The binding agent is selected from one or more of a long chain carboxylic acid and its salts and derivatives, especially those having from 8 to 100 or preferably 10 to 50 carbon units. The binding agent may preferably be selected from one or more of: dimer acid, trimer acid, polyisobutylene succinic anhydride, oleic acid, stearic acid, sorbitan tristearate, and their salts and esters.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2012Publication date: October 23, 2014Applicant: Dyno Nobel Asia Pacific Pty LimitedInventors: Emma McPhail, Brendan Griggs, Jeff Gore, Nathan Paris

Publication number: 20140311638Abstract: A pneumatic tire includes a tread portion with an unsymmetrical tread pattern that includes a circumferentially extending first main groove at a nearest side of an inboard tread edge, a circumferentially extending second main groove adjacent to the first main groove, and a middle land portion arranged therebetween. The middle land portion is provided with a plurality of inclined grooves, a plurality of inboard middle lateral grooves including one end communicated with the first main groove and the other end communicated with the inclined groove, and a plurality of outboard middle lateral grooves including one end communicated with the second main groove and the other end communicated with the inclined groove. Respective groove center points of the inboard middle lateral grooves are arranged in different places in the circumferential direction of the tire from respective groove center points of the outboard middle lateral grooves.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2014Publication date: October 23, 2014Applicant: SUMITOMO RUBBER INDUSTRIES, LTD.Inventor: Keiji TAKAGI

Publication number: 20140311640Abstract: A pneumatic tire is provided with a center land section formed between center main grooves, a pair of intermediate land sections formed between shoulder main grooves and the center main grooves, and a pair of shoulder land sections formed on the outside of the shoulder main grooves in a tire width direction. The center land section and the intermediate land sections swell outwardly in a tire radial direction from a basic tread profile line that smoothly connects ground contact surfaces of the pair of shoulder land sections. The radius of a peak section of the intermediate land sections is equal to or smaller than the radius of a peak section of the center land section, and the thickness of the intermediate land sections is greater than the thickness of the center land section.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2014Publication date: October 23, 2014Applicant: TOYO TIRE & RUBBER CO., LTD.Inventor: Souichi Takahashi

Publication number: 20140311641Abstract: A tread for a pneumatic tyre includes tread pattern elements and cuts. Each tread pattern element includes lateral faces and a contact face that comes into contact with a road surface when the tyre is being driven thereon. A boundary between the contact face and the lateral faces forms at least one edge corner. The cuts are formed as grooves and/or sipes, with the cuts being delimited by opposing lateral faces of the treat pattern elements. Each tread pattern element is formed of at least one rubber compound. When the tread is viewed in cross section in a plane normal to an axis of rotation of the tyre and passing through a contact face of a tread pattern element, at least one of the cuts adjacent to that contact face is covered at least in part with a covering layer that contains a woven or nonwoven fibre assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2012Publication date: October 23, 2014Inventors: Abdeslam El-Harak, Masayuki Maesaka
