Abstract: A remote control, upon determining that a power-saving flag is on, or in other words, upon determining that the remote control is conducting power-saving operating behavior, decides on a monochrome image stored in a reduced image memory as image information to be read by a renderer. The monochrome image has ? the amount of information compared to a color image stored in a normal image memory. Consequently, in the case of power-saving operating behavior by the remote control, the renderer is able to read a monochrome image stored in the reduced image memory with less power compared to the case of reading a color image stored in the normal image memory. Consequently, power consumed in the remote control may be restricted in the case of power-saving operating behavior by the remote control.

Abstract: A decode engine is configured to perform a rotation operation with a macroblock in conjunction with performing a deblocking operation that involves the macroblock. The decode engine decodes the macroblock and performs the deblocking operation to generate a deblocked macroblock, then rotates the deblocked macroblock and writes the rotated, deblocked macroblock to memory. With this approach, multiple, redundant reads of the macroblock, as required with conventional rotation techniques, may be avoided.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for facilitating the sharing of digital imaging effects from an image originator to an image recipient. A digital imaging effect is the result of a processing technique that is applied to a digital image in a way that produces a particular visual effect. The processing techniques that underlie digital imaging effects such as these can be defined by parameters that establish how the individual pixels comprising the image are manipulated to achieve the desired visual effect. In certain embodiments such defining parameters can be incorporated into a digital image file that thus contains not only data defining the image itself, but also parameters that define one or more effects that may have been applied to the image. This advantageously allows a recipient of the digital image file to not only view the image, but also to use the incorporated parameters to apply the effect to other images.

Abstract: A printing system includes a first imaging unit configured to print a first image and a single registration mark associated with the first image on a substrate contemporaneously during a production run, and a sensor configured to detect the registration mark at a point where the registration mark is within a second imaging unit. The printing system further includes a controller configured to calculate an offset along a width direction of the substrate based on the single registration mark and to instruct the second imaging unit to print the second image on the substrate. The second image is shifted in its entirety in accordance with the calculated offset and is printed on the same side of the substrate as the first image.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides ways to more appropriately perform high-quality printing with gradation inks. The disclosure provides a printing apparatus for printing using an inkjet scheme. The apparatus includes a plurality of inkjet heads that eject ink droplets of a first-color ink of at least one color selected from a plurality of colors. The plurality of inkjet heads respectively eject ink droplets of different concentrations of the first-color ink (magenta or cyan). At least one of the plurality of inkjet heads ejects ink droplets of a resin dispersed ink, and the resin dispersed ink is a ink in which dispersing particles of a colored binder resin as a dispersoid is dispersed in a dispersion medium.
