Publication number: 20140347268Abstract: With the addition of directional information and gesture based input in a location based services environment, a variety of service(s) can be provided on top of user identification or interaction with specific object(s) of interest. For instance, when a user gestures at or points at a particular item, or gestures at a particular location or place, this creates an opportunity, e.g., an advertising opportunity, for anyone having an interest in that particular item or place to communicate with the user regarding that item or related items at a point in time when the user's focus is on the particular item. User context for the interaction can also be taken into account to supplement the provision of one or more interactive direction based services.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: Moe Khosravy, Lev Novik, Katrika Marie Morris

Publication number: 20140347269Abstract: A tele-presence system that includes a remote device coupled to a control station through a communication link. The remote device includes a remote monitor, a remote camera, a remote speaker and a remote microphone. Likewise, the control station includes a station monitor, a station camera, a station speaker and a station microphone. The control station displays a plurality of graphical icons that each represents a different type of communication link between the control station and the remote device. The graphical icons can be selected to allow a user of the control station to change the communication link between the remote device and its initial node.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: James Ballantyne, Kelton Temby, James Rosenthal, David Roe

Publication number: 20140347270Abstract: A system that produces a haptic effect and generates a drive signal that includes at least two haptic effect signals each having a priority level. The haptic effect is a combination of the haptic effect signals and priority levels. The haptic effect may optionally be a combination of the two haptic effect signals if the priority levels are the same, otherwise only the haptic effect signal with the highest priority is used. The frequency of haptic notifications may also be used to generate a drive signal using foreground and background haptic effect channels depending on whether the frequency ratio exceeds a foreground haptic effect threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Applicant: Immersion CorporationInventors: David Birnbaum, Chris Ullrich, Jason Short, Ryan Devenish

Publication number: 20140347271Abstract: A computer implemented method and apparatus for reproducing an input curve on a mobile device comprising detecting the input curve, sampling the input curve into a discrete set of vertices, performing a normalized dot product of an edge leading into each one of the discrete set of vertices and a tangent to an edge leading from each one of the discrete set of vertices, setting one or more spline stiffness parameter based on the normalized dot product corresponding to each vertex; and converting the sampled input curve into one or more spline patch with the set spline stiffness parameter corresponding to each vertex.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventor: David McLean Carron

Publication number: 20140347272Abstract: Consumer electronic devices have been developed with enormous information processing capabilities, high quality audio and video outputs, large amounts of memory, and may also include wired and/or wireless networking capabilities. Additionally, relatively unsophisticated and inexpensive sensors, such as microphones, video camera, GPS or other position sensors, when coupled with devices having these enhanced capabilities, can be used to detect subtle features about users and their environments. A variety of audio, video, simulation and user interface paradigms have been developed to utilize the enhanced capabilities of these devices. These paradigms can be used separately or together in any combination. One paradigm automatically creating user identities using speaker identification. Another paradigm includes a control button with 3-axis pressure sensitivity for use with game controllers and other input devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Applicant: Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.Inventors: Gustavo Hernandez-Abrego, Xavier Menendez-Pidal, Steven Osman, Ruxin Chen, Rishi Deshpande, Care Michaud-Wideman, Richard Marks, Eric J. Publication number: 20140347276Abstract: An electronic apparatus including a display section with a touch panel displays a pointer for position designation on a screen of the display section while an operation mode is switched to a predetermined operation mode, and causes an entire region of the touch panel to function as a virtually transparent touchpad, and executes operation process including controlling a display position of the pointer in the display section in accordance with an input operation to the touch panel. For this reason, it is not necessary to display anything on the screen of the display section in order to indicate the virtual touchpad, and there is no possibility that the screen region that is operable is decreased or a part of a plurality of icons and the like disposed on the screen are hidden.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Applicant: CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD.Inventors: Shohei SAKAMOTO, Hiroyuki KATO, Katsunori TSUTSUMI, Kanako NAKANO
