Publication number: 20140348278Abstract: A method and system are provided for improving maintenance of timing information when a node enters holdover due to a lost connection between a sub-network and a reference clock. Each node within the sub-network sends information concerning the drift of its local oscillator to a single node, and the single node uses this information to determine timing information for the entire sub-network. The single node may also use knowledge of the characteristics of the local oscillators. In this way, drift from the reference clock can be minimized without incurring significant added hardware costs.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2013Publication date: November 27, 2014Applicant: Alcatel-Lucent Canada Inc.Inventors: Kin Yee Wong, Peter Roberts

Publication number: 20140348283Abstract: Application of axial seed magnetic fields in the range 20-100 T that compress to greater than 10,000 T (100 MG) under typical NIF implosion conditions may significantly relax the conditions required for ignition and propagating burn in NIF ignition targets that are degraded by hydrodynamic instabilities. Such magnetic fields can: (a) permit the recovery of ignition, or at least significant alpha particle heating, in submarginal NIF targets that would otherwise fail because of adverse hydrodynamic instability growth, (b) permit the attainment of ignition in conventional cryogenic layered solid-DT targets redesigned to operate under reduced drive conditions, (c) permit the attainment of volumetric ignition in simpler, room-temperature single-shell DT gas capsules, and (d) ameliorate adverse hohlraum plasma conditions during laser drive and capsule compression. In general, an applied magnetic field should always improve the ignition condition for any NIF ignition target design.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: Lindsay John Perkins, Jim H. Publication number: 20140348287Abstract: The present invention describes a nuclear reactor with a loop for liquid nuclear fuel, which, contrary to similar systems like the Molten-Salt Reactor of the Generation-IV canon, does not use the fuel loop for the heat transport at the same time. Instead, cooling is provided by an additional coolant loop, which is intensively coupled to the nuclear fuel duct for heat transport. That way, the advantages of liquid fuel can be utilized while optimizing the coolant loop performance, so the complexity of safety systems can be reduced significantly. This reactor design further includes an optimized neutron economy and is able to deactivate long-lived fission products generated by its own, so only short-lived radiotoxic waste has to be stored. With the neutron surplus it is also possible to deactivate long-lived radiotoxic waste from used fuel of today's light water reactors or to produce medical radioisotopes.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2012Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: Armin Huke, Götz Ruprecht, Ahmed Hussein, Konrad Czerski, Stephan Gottlieb

Publication number: 20140348319Abstract: A request to execute an interaction site for enabling communications to be exchanged between a multi-channel communications system and a user device is received by an interaction flow processor. The interaction site is identified based on the request. An interaction flow document is accessed for the identified interaction site, the interaction flow document including code for initiating the interaction site between a user device and the multi-channel communications system using any one of multiple different communications channels including an interactive voice response channel. A communications channel used by the user device to contact the multi-channel communications system is determined. Based on the determined communications channel, the code of the interaction flow document is translated to code executable by the multi-channel communications system to enable the multi-channel communications system and the user device to exchange communications over the determined communications channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: Ahmed Tewfik Bouzid, Praphul Kumar, Michael T. Publication number: 20140348320Abstract: A system and method for processing multi-modal communications is provided. A call is received into a call center via a telephone. The call includes an inquiry of incoming speech utterances from a caller. The call is assigned to an agent within the call center. Transcribed text is generated by performing automatic speech recognition on the incoming speech utterances. The transcribed text is displayed to the agent via a display. Text messages from the caller are separately received into the call center via the telephone during the call. The text messages are identified as originating from the caller of the call and displayed to the agent.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: Gilad Odinak, Alastair Sutherland

Publication number: 20140348321Abstract: Techniques described herein may use presence information to enhance the user experience when contacting entities such as call centers. In one implementation, a method may include receiving presence information relating to a state of a voice line. The presence information may include a wait time associated with the voice line, the wait time corresponding to an estimated time that a caller to the voice line will wait before reaching a human operator. The method may also include providing, by the one or more devices and to a user device that includes the voice line in a contact list, the presence information for display as part of the contact list.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2013Publication date: November 27, 2014Applicant: VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING INC.Inventors: Gowtham Javaregowda, Rafael A. Publication number: 20140348322Abstract: A method to communicate content is disclosed. An apparatus also performs the functions of the method. The method includes capturing a rendering of at least a portion of an image. The image has an embedded cryptographic representation of at least one character in a code and the code corresponds to a unit of content. The embedded cryptographic representation of the at least one character identifies an orientation of the at least a portion of the image. The method includes decoding the embedded cryptographic representation of the at least one character in the code, determining an orientation of the rendering of the at least a portion of an image, and retrieving the unit of content corresponding to the code from a storage location. The method includes displaying the unit of content in an orientation corresponding to the orientation of the rendering of the at least a portion of the image.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2013Publication date: November 27, 2014Applicant: VIDEO EXPRESSIONS LLCInventor: Rene Rodriguez Marchant

Publication number: 20140348323Abstract: Various embodiments of a computer-implemented method of information security using block cipher column rotations are described. The cipher state column rotations provide resistance to white box side channel memory correlation attacks designed to reverse-engineer a symmetric cipher key associated with the information security system. The column rotation operations can be performed on the cipher state of a block cipher, and then removed from the result, to provide obfuscation of the data when in memory, while not impacting the resulting output of the cipher or decipher operation. The method additionally includes performing a first rotation of an iteration specific cipher subkey according to the first rotation index, performing an iteration of the block cipher operations on the cipher state matrix, and rotating the columns of the cipher state matrix according to an inverse of the first rotation index.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2013Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: Benoit Chevallier-Mames, Mathieu Ciet, Thomas Icart, Bruno Kindarji, Augustin J.
