Abstract: A two-shaft gas turbine is provided that can raise an inlet temperature of a high-pressure turbine and the air quantity of a compressor to respective rated values at any atmospheric temperature without using a variable stator vane in the initial stage of a low-pressure turbine. The two-shaft gas turbine includes a power generator 21 having a compressor 11, a combustor 12 and a high-pressure turbine 13; a low-pressure turbine 14 driven by exhaust gas from the high-pressure turbine 13; a generator motor 23 connected to the gas generator 21; and a control unit 24. When either one of a value of the inlet temperature of the high-pressure turbine 13 and a value of the air quantity of the compressor 11 reaches a rated value before the other value reaches a rated value, the control unit 24 drives the generator motor 23 to bring the other value close to the rated value.

This gas and nitrogen are fed into a first heat exchanger for cooling against colder flash and expanded gases. High pressure nitrogen gas is expanded producing refrigeration to liquefy the natural gas passing through further heat exchangers and throttled via a control valve where the resulting liquid natural gas (LNG) exits into a separator. A portion of the LNG is fed to a nitrogen liquefaction unit with a major portion of LNG stored as product. The LNG portion is vaporized and heated to ambient against a pressurized liquefied nitrogen stream, a portion of which is stored as product. Also included is a step (III) of contacting a first surface of the glass ribbon with the first roll member at a first adjusted contact location of the glass ribbon. Also disclosed are corresponding glass forming apparatus configured to form glass ribbons and draw the glass ribbons in a draw direction.

Abstract: A furnace for shaping glass sheets for aircraft transparencies using the cut-to-size method includes a preheat and cooling furnace defined as a first furnace, and a shaping furnace. A conveyor geared for reciprocating movement moves a bending iron supporting a glass sheet through the first furnace set to a preheat temperature. The glass sheet supported on the bending iron is heated in the shaping furnace by microwave beams from a gyrotron to heat portions of the glass sheet to be shaped to a complex shape. After the sheet is shaped, the conveyor moves the bending iron supporting the shaped glass sheet from the shaping furnace through the first furnace set to a cooling cycle.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for scribing a contained crack or vent in a chemically strengthened glass sheet. The glass has shallow surface regions under compressive stress, bounding a central region under tensile stress. The vent is formed by rapidly bulk-heating the glass, using radiation from a carbon monoxide laser, to a depth just below a surface compressive region and extending marginally into the tensile stress region then rapidly cooling the heated region with a water mist spray. The glass sheet can be subsequently divided along the vent by application of mechanical or thermal stress.

The slotted nozzle downdraw glass forming device possesses a nozzle and the overflow downdraw glass forming device is located below the said nozzle. When glass liquid is injected into the slotted nozzle downdraw glass forming device, the glass liquid will flow down through the nozzle to a flow guiding surface formed on the overflow downdraw glass forming device. Then, the overflow downdraw glass forming device makes glass liquid in shape of thin smooth surface sheet glass by using overflow downdraw method.

Abstract: A reformable area and a non-reformable area of a sheet of glass material are heated to a first temperature corresponding to a first viscosity. The reformable area is subsequently locally heated to a second temperature corresponding to a second viscosity, where the second viscosity is lower than the first viscosity. A bend is formed in the reformable area during the local heating of the reformable area by contacting a first pusher with the non-reformable area and translating the first pusher along a linear path to apply a pushing force to the non-reformable area that results in the bend in the reformable area or by contacting a second pusher with an edge area of the reformable area and rotating the pusher along a circular path to apply a pushing force to the edge area of the reformable area that results in the bend in the reformable area.
