  • Patent number: 8965159
Abstract: A method and structures are provided for implementing an impedance-matched, low inductance, 3-dimensional (3D) twisted-pair within a given dielectric material layer. A dielectric material layer is loaded with an electrically insulating metal spinel compound at a set loading level. Upon exposure to a focused laser beam, the spinel is converted to a metallic particle with an electrical conductivity suitable for various applications. An impedance-matched, low inductance, 3-dimensional (3D) twisted-pair is generated using a laser direct structuring process with a fine depth control achieved with a laser.

Abstract: A method of automatic announcer voice removal from a televised sporting event. A sound processing circuit divides an audio input signal of a televised sporting event into multiple audio segments. The audio input signal includes crowd noise and announcer commentary. If an audio segment does not exceed a pre-defined amplitude threshold, a voice removal utility adds the audio segment to a recent crowd noise library and stores the segment in an output buffer. If the amplitude of a segment exceeds the threshold, the utility adds the segment to a recent announcer voice library. The sound processing circuit generates an attenuated version of the segment and blends the attenuated version with one or more mixed segments from the recent crowd noise library. The voice removal utility stores the attenuated and blended segment in the output buffer and outputs one or more audio segments from the buffer in a chronological order.

Abstract: A method for shared mesh restoration includes configuring a switch to allow sharing of a plurality of backup line cards across a plurality of node degrees associated with a reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM). The switch is communicatively coupled to the ROADM. The method further includes configuring a number of backup line cards coupled to the switch. The number of backup line cards is based on determining a number of active backup lightpaths for each of a plurality of network failures associated with each of the plurality of node degrees of the ROADM, identifying which node degree and failure has the largest number of active backup lightpaths for all of the plurality of node degrees of the ROADM and for each of the plurality of network failures, and determining the number of backup line cards to configure based on the identified largest number of active backup lightpaths.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for automatically restoring node resource state in the Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing Based Automatic Switched Optical Network (WSON) system. This method comprises the following steps: using each node in the WSON system as an initiation node and notifying the resource state of the initiation node to a neighboring node; the neighboring node comparing the received resource state of the initiation node with the resource state of the present end; and under the condition that the resource state of the initiation node and that of the neighboring node are inconsistent, according to the actual resource state, determining one of the initiation node and the neighboring node to be the node whose resource is occupied, and automatically releasing the resource of the node. The present invention also provides an apparatus for automatically restoring node resource state in the WSON system.
