  • Patent number: 9004942
Abstract: An electrical connector with reduced cross talk and controlled impedance. The connector comprises hybrid shields with lossy portions and conductive portions. The synergistic effect of the lossy portions and the conductive portions allows the hybrid shields to be relatively thin such that they can be incorporated into the mating interface regions or other mechanically constrained regions of the connector to provide adequate crosstalk suppression without undesirably impacting impedance. The conductive portions may be shaped to preferentially position the conductive regions adjacent signal conductors susceptible to cross talk to further contribute to the synergy. The conductive regions may include holes to contribute to desired electrical properties for the connector.

Abstract: An optical toy adapted to enable a user, such as a child, to see a 3-dimensional image that is representative of an object being held in front of the toy. The toy includes a frame which surrounds a set of optical components and an optical components carrier. The set of optical components of the toy includes an optically-transparent (e.g., convex) lens and a reflective (e.g., concave) mirror surface that is located behind the transparent lens. The optical components carrier to which the set of optical components of the toy is attached is removable from the rear of the frame to be replaced by a different carrier having a different set of optical components.

  • Patent number: 9004978
Abstract: A swinging bob toy having three bobs constrained on a string, the middle bob being slideably constrained between the two end bobs, and at least one of the bobs being reversibly separable into two partial bobs. A wide variety of new tricks and maneuvers are made possible by the separability of the bobs. The two partial bobs have roughly the same weight thereby providing balanced orbits. Each of the two partial bobs slides less easily along the string than a non-separated bob. The two partial bobs have roughly the same diameter along at least one axis thereby allowing visual illusions to be performed.

  • Patent number: 9004979
Abstract: The invention relates to a replaceable fine machining membrane (19) for fixing on a tool head (1), to which pressure can be applied, of a stationary fine machining tool for fine machining a workpiece surface. A fine machining means substrate (27) is integrated in the fine machining membrane (19), said fine machining membrane (19) having a crosslinked elastomer (40) and said fine machining means substrate (27) being embedded in the crosslinked elastomer (40). The invention also relates to a method for producing such a fine machining membrane (19) and to a stationary fine machining tool with a tool head (1) to which pressure can be applied and which has a removable fixing means (31) for fixing such a replaceable fine machining membrane (19). Finally, the invention relates to a method for producing the novel fine machining membrane (19). The invention allows the precise reproducible fine machining of workpiece surfaces even with highly convex or freely shaped membranes (19).

  • Patent number: 9004980
Abstract: A fluid jet system providing a hydraulic induction manifold for at least two valves. The manifold is positioned “upstream” of an abrasives holding tank, so that no abrasive material flows through the valves and the manifold. The valves and the manifold provide pressurized fluid for at least two different flows: (1) a primary fluid flow and (2) an abrasive material flow through the abrasives holding tank. The two flows are merged again at a junction to provide a fluid flow having a predetermined abrasive-to-fluid mixture ratio. The manifold balances the pressure of the two different flows using a preset geometric relationship between the two different output flow paths associated with the valves.
