Abstract: This invention consists of the addition of a novel clutch arrangement which facilitates speed changing gears on both the output and input of the transmission and provides for a compact packaging configuration for a plurality of hydraulic pump/motors. The use of a small accumulator without a valve and a related reservoir absorbs the pressure shocks from rapidly opening and closing the valves that that select or de-select the pump/motors. It is also disclosed that two adjacent pump/motors on the same shaft can be constructed such that they share an input or output port thereby reducing the size of the combination. The transmission can perform the retarder function by placing a flow retarding valve in the re-circulating path in one or more of the pump/motors.

The bypass pressure regulator is upstream from an output of a pump or pumps, which in combination with the primary pressure regulator, is operable to increase the output of the pump or pumps to accommodate for downstream pressure spikes in any one of the parallel metering circuits.

Abstract: This invention relates to gas turbine engines of continuous combustion in a high speed gas flow through an open circuit in high heating value gas turbine fuels. It may be used in transportation facilities, such as aviation and power plants, and also as a drive in gas compressor units. The engine contains two or more combustion chambers for high-calorific fuel suitable for combustion in speed gas and air stream. Each combustion chamber after the previous combustion chamber raises the temperature of the working body after the work at the turbine stage to the value optimal for work at next turbine stage. There is a possibility of independent reallocation of immediate bulk flows between the main stream of the working body and supplementary bypass parallel streams of the working body. For this purpose the engine, apart from the multistaged turbine, contains at least two compressor stages of air compression with bends. Each combustion chamber contains its fuel sprayers.

Abstract: A method, a system, and an article of manufacture are disclosed for cryogenic cooling of systems operating at cryogenic temperatures or higher. Applications of this disclosure are as varied as trucking of meat and vegetable to mine sweeping and MRI systems. A cooling network is formed by coupling blocks of Thermal Energy Storage (TES) modules together with optional thermal switches or valves and optionally with an active cooling component to maintain a cryogenic temperature in a cryostat. The TES modules are combinations of thermal conducting elements to conduct heat and solid storage elements to absorb heat. The cooling component may be one or more cryocoolers for steady state and transient heat transfer conditions and may be coupled with the TES modules via thermal shunt connections. The thermal switches or valves may be deployed within the thermal shunts to control the flow of heat between different TES modules and cooling components, thus reconfiguring the cooling network.
