Abstract: In a method and a vehicle for operating a vehicle heating, ventilating and cooling air conditioning system, the vehicle has an engine, to provide engine on and engine off operation, and a control unit for timer controlled activation and temperature control of the air conditioning system when the engine is off. The control unit allows an operator to set a target time and a target temperature related to the target time. The method includes the step of ventilating an interior compartment of the vehicle to ambient air for a period of time before the set target time, if the target temperature is lower than the interior temperature and the ambient air temperature is lower than the interior temperature.

Abstract: A grille shutter is a device configured to adjust a temperature of coolant water of an engine by adjusting an amount of outside air introduced into a radiator of the engine. An ECU performs a failure diagnosis for the engine based on a temperature of coolant water of the engine. When the grille shutter is immovable in an opened state of the grille shutter regardless of an operating command to the grille shutter, the ECU renders the failure diagnosis process for the thermostat valve not to be executed. As a result, an incorrect operation of various controls executed based on a temperature of coolant water of the engine can be suppressed.

Abstract: During turning of a vehicle, a vehicle body deceleration due to a cornering drag is obtained. An electronically controlled coupling is controlled to give, to rear wheels, a pre-torque set to be larger as the vehicle body deceleration is larger. Also, the pre-torque is restricted by an upper limit of the pre-torque that is set to be lower as a differential rotational speed of the front and rear wheels is smaller. By giving the pre-torque to the rear wheels, if a shift condition for a four-wheel drive state is established subsequently, a driving force can be generated in the rear wheels substantially at the same time that a fastening force of the electronically controlled coupling is increased, thereby the shift to the four-wheel drive state is immediately completed. Consequently, delay in response is not generated in the shift.

Abstract: An infant care device includes a casing, a latch member, a driving member and a first resilient member. The casing has an insertion space permitting an insert ion portion of a mounting seat to be inserted thereinto. The latch member is counted movably to the casing. The first resilient member biases the latch member to engage the insertion portion so as to prevent relative movement between the infant care device and the insertion portion. The driving member is mounted to the casing, and is able to be pushed to move a cam portion thereof to disengage the latch member from the insertion portion against the biasing action of the first resilient member, so as to permit the relative movement between the infant care device and the insertion portion.

Abstract: A vehicle seat having a bottom frame, a seat back connected to the frame, and an armrest capable of upward and downward movement. The armrest includes a seat bracket connecting the armrest to the frame and a vertically variable adjustment mechanism. The mechanism has a control disposed in the armrest, a lock actuated to an engaged or disengaged position by the control, a rack disposed in a generally vertical direction, and a one-way bearing acting as pinion and having two rotational states. The first rotational state is a locked state where the lock is engaged and prevents the one-way bearing from rotating, preventing the rack and armrest from a downward movement. The second rotational state is a free state where the lock is in the engaged position and a force is applied in the upward direction, the one-way bearing can rotate, allowing the rack and armrest an upward movement.
