Abstract: Methods and apparatus for an emergency descent system according to various aspects of the present technology may comprise a cable connector non-slidably connected to an emergency escape cable and a housing connected to the cable connector and configured to enclose a controlled descent system and at least a portion of a length of rope. The housing may comprise an outer protective layer, an inner wall section substantially enclosed by the outer protective layer forming an open interior portion, and a cover configured to be selectively attached to an upper portion of the outer protective layer. The cover may be configured to be selectively attached to an upper portion of the outer protective layer. The cover may be configured to cover at least a portion of the controlled descent system and protect the open interior portion from environmental conditions.

The webbing used in the braking system is stored in a housing mounted to a waist belt of the harness. The webbing passes through a ring to redirect the webbing from the housing to the brake.

Abstract: A safety device for use in a fall arrest system, has a safety line drum mounted for rotation and a speed responsive engagement mechanism responsive to the speed of rotation of the drum, which is activated above a predetermined rotational speed of the drum to deploy an energy absorber. A rotational transmission member (which may be in the form of a shaft) is coupled, via the speed responsive engagement mechanism, when activated, to rotate with the drum. The energy absorber is deployed in response to operation of the rotational transmission member. The speed responsive engagement mechanism may be mounted intermediate the drum and the energy absorber for ease of replacement.

Abstract: Fire protection mist nozzles for industrial oil cookers, oil cookers with fire protection systems, and method of oil cooker fire protection are provided. The mist nozzles operate at pressures between 170 and 250 psi, and provide a unique distribution pattern that allows for variable installations for protection in certain operative environments including oil cookers with various hood configurations. The fire protection nozzles includes a base defining an inlet and an outlet along an axis. The base includes an orifice having an inlet diameter and an outlet diameter. The outlet diameter is preferably greater than the inlet diameter; and the orifice defines a K-factor of less than 1.0 gpm/psi½. The nozzle includes a diffuser aligned with the orifice. The diffuser has a preferably substantially domed portion with a maximum diameter that is less than the summation of the inlet diameter and the outlet diameter of the orifice.

Abstract: An aircraft fuel system architecture which reduces the fleet-wide flammability exposure of the fuel tanks. In one embodiment, the aircraft center fuel tank fuel is cooled at certain times in a flight to reduce its flammability exposure to be similar to that of an unheated conventional metal wing fuel tank. Aircraft fuel tanks that have adjacent heat sources are also insulated to minimize heat flow into the fuel. Fuel tanks that have lower cooling properties, such as composite wing tanks are cooled at certain times during flight such that their temperatures are reduced to be similar to metal wing tanks when the fuel is flammable. A fuel tank that is pressurized relative to outside pressure at altitude having a lower flammability exposure than unpressurized tanks is combined with the cooling of fuel in the tank to reduce the fleet-wide flammability exposure of the fuel tank to be similar to that of an unpressurized metal wing tank.

Abstract: A mounting assembly for a pre-connected nozzle having a first end and a second end. The pre-connected nozzle has a universal connector with internal threading to connect to a hose, and external threading to connect to the nozzle and a rim. The assembly has a connector base to cradle the universal connector and its rim to support the first end of the nozzle. An adjustable locking assembly is attached to the connector base and has a strap to further support the universal connector. To support the second end of the nozzle, the mounting assembly has a flexible mounting assembly from two identical mounts facing away from each other and providing one arm per mount. A storage mount for the universal connector is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic fire extinguisher capable of automatically discharging a fire-extinguishing agent upon the occurrence of a fire. More particularly, the present invention relates to an automatic fire extinguisher which is capable of automatically discharging a fire-extinguishing agent to a fire site without using power upon the occurrence of a fire to thus efficiently extinguish the fire, and which is also capable of sounding an alarm at an early stage upon the occurrence of a fire, to thus enable people to take swift action. The automatic fire extinguisher of the present invention may ultimately serve as a sprinkler, and can be reused after operation.

Abstract: An assisted chin/dip exercise apparatus has a main frame and an assist or foot bar pivotally mounted on the frame and linked to a weight stack or resistance for assisting a user standing on the foot bar during performance of chin and dip exercises. The main frame has a first, overhead handle assembly and a second, dip handle assembly below the first handle assembly. The first handle assembly includes a pair of adjustably mounted handles freely pivotable between a first, chin-up position in which the handles extend towards one another at a rearward angle with a small spacing between the handles and a second, pull-up position in which the handles extend in a forward direction and are spaced apart by a larger spacing sufficient to provide head clearance for a user stepping onto the foot bar or while performing a dip exercise.

Abstract: An exercise assembly comprises a frame and elongated foot pedal members that are each movable along user-defined paths of differing dimensions. Each foot pedal member has a front portion and a rear portion. Footpads are disposed on the rear portion of one of the pair of foot pedal members. Elongated coupler arms have a lower portion and an upper portion that is pivotally connected to the frame. Crank members have a first portion that is pivotally connected to the front portion of one of the pair of foot pedal members and have a second portion that is pivotally connected to the lower portion of one of the pair of coupler arms, such that each crank member is rotatable in a circular path. Elongated rocker arms have a lower portion that is pivotally connected to one of the pair of foot pedal members in between the foot pad and the crank member and have an upper portion that is pivotally connected to the frame.

Abstract: A collapsible folding training device is provided having a rear frame portion that contains a resistance device. The resistance device uses eddy currents and has a pivoting magnet internally that creates progressively increasing resistance as speed increases. An arm is attached to the rear frame portion that can pivot from a stored position to an in-use position. At the opposite end of the arm, a front frame is attached where it can affix a portion of a driving mechanism, such as a bicycle. The front frame supports and stabilizes the driving mechanism. The arm sets the distance between the front frame and the resistance device.

Abstract: A locking device for an exercise system may include at least one moveable assembly that is in communication with a resistance mechanism. The locking device has an actuating device for selectively engaging the locking device, a locking member having a contact portion, wherein the contact portion of the locking member is not in contact with the resistance mechanism of the exercise system when the actuating device is in a first position, thereby allowing movement of the at least one moveable assembly, and wherein the contact portion of the locking member is in contact with the resistance mechanism of the exercise system when the actuating device is in a second position, thereby preventing movement of the at least one moveable assembly.

Abstract: The invention provides an exercise device for strengthening muscles in the scapula-thoracic region. The device enables simulated weight-bearing action for the upper limb while maintaining good postural form. The device can also be used to provide feedback on good postural form. The exercise device comprises a spine contact member (26) to be positioned at the thoracic curve of a person (10), and two rigid planar members (28) which extend laterally from the spine contact member (26). The rigid planar members (28) are positioned over the scapulae of the person (10). Abstract: Multi-piece golf balls having a core made of a polybutadiene rubber blend are provided. The golf ball contains a multi-layered core. The inner core is formed from a blend containing a non-metallocene catalyzed polybutadiene rubber and metallocene-catalyzed polybutadiene rubber. The surrounding outer core layer is made of a non-metallocene-catalyzed polybutadiene rubber. Catalysts such as neodymium, nickel, and cobalt based catalysts may be used to make the non-metallocene catalyzed rubber. Catalysts such as ferrocene, cobaltocene, nickelocene, titanocene dichloride, zirconocene dichloride, and samraocene based catalysts may be used to make the metallocene-catalyzed rubber. The multi-layered core is surrounded by a cover having at least one layer. The resulting ball has high resiliency and a soft compression feel.

In order to satisfy these functions, it is devised to improve the properties of an iron-type golf club by subjecting particularly a soft iron forged head to surface treatment. A foundation layer of an electroless Ni—P plating film is formed over the entire surface of a soft iron forged head and also a surface layer of an electroless Ni—P—W plating film is formed over the entire surface of the foundation layer. Heat treatment is performed at 300 to 700° C. when forming the electroless Ni—P—W plating film. The head is a wedge type head having a pitching wedge, an approach wedge, or a sand wedge.

The handle includes at least a first tactile reference feature that extends longitudinally along the exterior body surface and is confined to a first tactile octant. The first tactile reference feature is formed with dimensions specifically tailored to harness the user's natural attributes of sensibility, proprioception, and neuromuscular memory to improve a user's accuracy.

Abstract: A device is provided. The device has an arcuate guide disposed about a shoe. The guide has a start point on an inner side of the shoe, an intermediate point on a heel side of the shoe, and an end point on an outer side of the shoe. The guide is angled upward across the heel side from the inner side to the outer side with the angle in a range between about 30 degrees to about 60 degrees. The start point and end point are positioned on the shoe at a point lower than the intermediate point. The device also has an indicator moveable along the guide. The indicator is an alert to the user of the device that the user has executed proper body motions during a swing or throw, when the indicator traverses from the start point through the intermediate point to the end point. Abstract: A baseball bat swing training apparatus is provided that includes a bat and a slide mechanism. The bat includes handle and barrel sections that are spaced apart to form a gap there-between. The mechanism is inserted within this gap and is connected to the upper end of the handle section and the lower end of the barrel section. The mechanism includes a sliding rail assembly and a rail guide that are cooperatively configured to insure that these upper and lower ends are substantially coaxial when the sliding rail assembly is situated in a rightmost position on the rail guide, and permit a lateral shift of this lower end relative to this upper end during a swinging of the bat. A tennis racket swing training apparatus is also provided where the mechanism is inserted within a gap that is formed between upper and lower portions of the racket's handle section.

During the practice of the golf swing the laser beam should follow the reference lines drawn on the practice surface. A proper golf swing is produced when the laser beam follows the reference lines.

Abstract: The game of spades is played with teams using a standard deck of 52 cards comprised of 13 cards in each of four different suits without the use of wild cards, the cards being shuffled and dealt equally to each of the players of the game. If excess tricks are taken, each excess trick is given a “bag” to the team gaining the extra trick. Next, a request is received from a first wireless communication device for a first wireless communication device operator to receive the exclusive privilege. A graphical user interface may be presented to a user that presents an isometric projection of a virtual environment. A placement event corresponding to a user initiating a placement of a game object within the virtual environment may then be detected. The game object may be modeled with a two-dimensional model. Selection coordinates associated with the placement event are then obtained. Using the selection coordinates, it may be determined that the user selected one of a plurality of surface areas of an existing game object. Then, the game object is then inserted within the virtual environment relative to the one of the plurality of surface areas of the existing game object.

Abstract: A player model for a video game is generated based on inputs received from users who have played past versions of the game. The player model can be used to simulate user actions in a new version of the video game and make predictions about average user session length, average earnings per session, number of games played per day, etc. More than one player model may be generated for a game. Each player model for a game may represent one or more features, such as a user skill level, for a group of users.
