  • Patent number: 9233547
Abstract: Cartridges 4 and 5 are configured, such that first convex ribs 428a and 528a abut against second wall surfaces 762 of cartridge engagement wall surfaces 760 inclined with respect to a bottom wall 712 of a cartridge attachment structure 7 and move in friction with the second wall surfaces 762. Such abutting and moving causes contact portions of terminals 412 and 512 of circuit substrates 410 and 510 of the respective cartridges 4 and 5 to come into contact with electrode assemblies 810 of a carriage 8. This configuration enhances the reliability of electric connection between a contact portion, such as a circuit substrate, of a liquid supply unit and an electrode assembly, such as contact pins, of a carriage in the course of attachment.

  • Patent number: 9233550
Abstract: An embodiment of this invention is directed to discriminating between an ink present state and a bubble state and accurately determining the presence/absence of ink in residual ink detection. A printing apparatus measures the voltage between two electrodes in an ink tank based on an electric current supplied to one of the two electrodes, and compares the measured voltage with a first threshold voltage. When the measured voltage is lower than the first threshold voltage, the measured voltage is compared with a second threshold voltage lower than the first threshold voltage. According to results of these two comparisons, control is performed to supply the electric current, re-measure the voltage between the two electrodes, and re-inspect a residual ink amount. In a case where accurate determination is suspected, the presence/absence of ink is determined by re-inspection.

  • Patent number: 9233559
Abstract: Apparatus for causing a vacuum force to be applied across a width of a print medium as it moves through a printing system and for determining whether the edge seals are positioned correctly is disclosed. A vacuum chamber is connected to a vacuum source which provides vacuum to the vacuum chamber. Spaced sealing rollers and the edge seals define an opening in the vacuum chamber, wherein the print medium passes over the opening and is guided by the sealing rollers. A sensor measures a vacuum level in the vacuum chamber. A controller stores a plurality of response curves for different known print media, produces first and second signals indicative of an activation level of the vacuum source and the vacuum level in the vacuum chamber, and compares the first and second signal to appropriate response curves to produce an error signal indicating whether the edge seals are correctly positioned.

Abstract: A display and a controller are used to implement a tire pressure optimization system for a vehicle. The controller is programmed to receive inflation pressure information indicative of a vehicle tire's inflation pressure, and identify an operating state of the vehicle as being in an optimum state when the inflation pressure information indicates optimum performance, in a warning state when the inflation pressure information indicates the inflation pressure is beyond a warning pressure threshold, or in an advisory state when the inflation pressure information indicates an undesirable performance characteristic outside of the warning state and the optimum state. The controller is programmed to operate the display to output an optimum state indication when the operating state is in the optimum state, a warning indication when the operating state is in the warning state, and an advisory indication when the operating state is in the advisory state.

  • Patent number: 9233594
Abstract: A cooling device utilizes a vapor compression refrigeration cycle including a compressor, a condenser, a receiver, an expansion valve, an evaporator, and an accumulator to cool a heat source with a coolant. The receiver separates the coolant having been subjected to heat exchange by the condenser into gas and liquid. The accumulator separates the coolant having been subjected to heat exchange by the evaporator into gas and liquid. The cooling device opens a switch valve capable of bringing the receiver and the accumulator into communication with each other to move the coolant liquid in the accumulator to the receiver. The cooling device restores the pressure difference between the receiver and the accumulator after the movement of the coolant liquid to the pressure difference before the movement of the coolant liquid by a pressure regulating unit.
