By contacting the feedstock with the catalyst and heteropolyacid or heteropolyacid salt under these temperature and pressure conditions, the C10-18 oxygenate is hydrodeoxygenated to a linear alkane that has the same carbon chain length as the C10-18 oxygenate.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Annalisa Hargis, Manish S. (with high all-E-contents and high 6Z-contents, respectively). C15-Wittig slats mixtures are purified and 6Z-C15-Wittig salts are extracted from the mixtures. The extracted 6Z-C15-Wittig salts are, used in the synthesis of lycopenes with high 6Z contents and the residues are used in the synthesis of lycopenes with high All-E contents.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Haw-Shyi CHIU, Po-Wei LIN

Publication number: 20160009612Abstract: A process for making linear alkyl aromatics is described. The process involves preparing the paraffin feed by dehydrogenating normal paraffins, selectively hydrogenating any diolefins, and adsorbing any aromatics to form an olefin feed. The olefin feed is contacted with an aromatic feed in the presence of an ionic liquid catalyst to form a mixture of alkylated aromatics. The ionic liquid catalyst is separated from the mixture of alkylated aromatics by gravity, and any ionic liquid retained in the alkylated aromatics is removed by adsorption or extraction. The mixture of alkylated aromatics is then separated into monoalkylated aromatics and dialkylated aromatics.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventors: Mark G. Publication number: 20160009615Abstract: Processes for the production of chlorinated propenes are provided. The processes proceed through the production of cyclic intermediate that is thereafter readily converted to a desired chloropropane, e.g., via selective pyrolysis. The process may be conducted using starting materials that are readily commercially available and/or that may be reacted safely in standard laboratory equipment so that capital cost savings may be seen. The process does not require the use of catalysts and yet, process conditions less extreme than many conventional processes for the production of chlorinated propenes are suitable, so that raw material and utility cost savings are also possible.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Applicant: DOW GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES LLCInventors: Matthew L. Publication number: 20160009616Abstract: A method for producing water soluble menthol compound produces a menthol compound that is soluble in alcohol and ether, yet insoluble in water. The menthol compound provides antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and bacteriostatic effects when combined with other compounds to produce numerous medical and consumable compositions, including, without limitation, eye drops, mouth wash, juices, and noodles. In some embodiments, the produced menthol compound is a menthol water-soluble sodium salt or sylvite. However in other embodiments, the menthol compound may include a menthol crystal configuration. The steps include: adding a metal to a menthol solution. Enabling the reaction; dissolving the solid mixture; applying osmosis membrane dialysis to the dissolved solid mixture; filtering, drying, and washing the solid mixture; decompressing and removing water from the solid mixture; and collecting the water soluble menthol compound.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2014Publication date: January 14, 2016Inventor: Wen Hsiang Wayne Hsin
