Abstract: A method for using a self-tamping brewing material holder tamps loose ground brewing material obtaining richer flavor. The brewing material holder includes a holder base and a holder lid. Brewing material is loosely deposited in the brewing material holder base and the holder lid is attached to the reusable holder base. Cooperation of the reusable holder base and holder lid biases a tamper against the brewing material to tamp the brewing material. The tamping may be biased by a spring or by a resilient solid material attached to the brewing material holder lid and push the brewing material down inside the base or may be biased by a spring or by a resilient solid material attached to the brewing material holder base and push the brewing material up against the holder lid.

  • Patent number: 9242791
Abstract: The invention relates to a capsule for delivering a drink by injecting a pressurized fluid comprising a body (2), an injection wall (3), a chamber (4) containing a bed of food substance to be extracted, means for retaining the internal pressure (5) in the said chamber. The improvement consists in the provision of an injection space (7) allowing a means of injecting fluid in the form of at least one jet of fluid to be introduced through the injection wall and in providing a means (6) for breaking the jet of fluid and distributing the distribution of fluid at a reduced speed across the surface of the bed of substance. These means may adopt various forms such as that of a rigid or flexible perforated wall, or a layer of discrete elements or a spongy layer. Such a capsule improves the flow of liquid extract through the pressure retaining means (5) and improves the extraction conditions.

  • Patent number: 9242798
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus for determining stowability based on item-size categories are described. Embodiments may select a storage module for a stow operation based on accessing stowability information. Stowability information, in various embodiments may include stowability information for each storage module in a materials handling system. Stowability information may indicate a capacity to hold additional items in a storage module. The capacity may be determined according an item-size category descriptor, describing the quantity of items in each category of a storage module, and a storage module capacity module characterizing item descriptors of fully-stowed storage modules. In some embodiments the storage module capacity model is a function fitted to data points representing the values of item-size descriptors of fully-stowed storage modules. Embodiments may update the stowability information for a storage module in response to the removal of an item from the storage module.

  • Patent number: 9242807
Abstract: The vortex pneumatic conveyance apparatus of the present application creates a vortex from blown and/or pressurized air rotating along the inner wall of an outlet tube to convey particles through a vacuum created within the center of the outlet tube at a relatively high flow rate and pressure. Without the blown and/or pressurized air molecules taking up space and colliding with the particles in the center of the outlet tube and because of the strong suction created by the vortex of air rotating along the inner wall of the outlet tube, the efficiency of the vortex pneumatic conveyance apparatus of this application is improved relative to well-known pneumatic conveyors in which air merely pushes the particles within an outlet tube.

In the transport mechanism, when a length of the transport object in the transport direction is equal to or greater than a predetermined specified length that is greater than a distance between the transport member and the curved portion, the transport member does not move the transport object in the intersecting direction.

Abstract: To take blanks of sheets for producing laminated glass, from a cutting table, an adjustable takeoff roller onto which the sheet blanks are wound is used. To fix the beginning of the sheet blank to be taken off to the takeoff roller, openings for applying negative pressure are provided in the lateral surface of the takeoff roller. When a sheet blank is taken from the cutting table, the takeoff roller is brought into position at the beginning of the sheet blank to be taken off, the blank is fixed to the takeoff roller and the takeoff roller is then moved along the cutting table while rotating about its own axis, and so the sheet blank is wound up around the lateral surface of the takeoff roller. For laying down the sheet blank onto a glass pane during the production of laminated glass, a correspondingly reversed procedure may be used.

The lowering control unit lowers a discharge tray based on an amount of sheets discharged to the tray. The determination unit can determine that lowering of the discharge tray has been disabled before the discharge tray reaches a lower end position. The notification unit notifies removal of an object present below the discharge tray when it is determined that the lowering of the discharge tray has been disabled. The control unit executes control so as to raise the discharge tray in response to the determination that the lowering of the discharge tray has been disabled.
