Abstract: Methods and systems for optimizing wellbore completion and, in particular, methods and systems for optimizing hydraulic fracturing parameters are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of optimizing wellbore completion includes gathering wellbore data, screening and processing the gathered wellbore data, utilizing the screened and processed wellbore data to define an optimized model, and utilizing the optimized model to evaluate combinations of available wellbore completion parameters. In some instances, the optimized model is defined using artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, and/or boosted regression trees. Further, in some embodiments the combinations of available wellbore completion parameters include hydraulic fracturing parameters, such as number of fractures, fracturing fluid type, proppant type, fracturing volume, and/or other parameters.

Abstract: There is provided a frequent pattern extraction apparatus. In the apparatus, time series data for an item operation is divided into a plurality of item operation sets. Using a set degree of similarity between the item operation sets, an abstract item operation set is generated. A pattern of sequences that frequently appear is extracted from the sequences in the abstract item operation set. Using the pattern of sequences that frequently appear, an item as well as an item operation are recommended to a user.

A particular one of the feature vectors not being available is determined. In response to determining that the particular one of the feature vectors is not available, the particular feature vector is ignored based on an importance value associated with the particular feature vector. A substitute value associated with the particular feature vector is inserted into a portion of the assembled feature vector associated with the particular feature vector. A prediction modeling process based on the assembled feature vector and a prediction model is performed to predict a likelihood of a particular member performing a particular user action on a particular content item.

Abstract: A computing device for use with a demand response system is provided. The computing device includes a communication interface for receiving customer data of a plurality of customers, wherein the customer data includes a participation history and historical consumption values for each customer for participating in at least one demand response event. A processor is coupled to the communication interface and is programmed to select at least one customer from the plurality of customers by considering the participation history and the historical consumption values for each of the customers. The processor is also programmed to estimate a future reduction in energy consumption for the customer based on the customer data and to determine whether the estimated future reduction in energy consumption is substantially accurate.

Abstract: A reasoning engine is disclosed. Contemplated reasoning engines acquire data relating to one or more aspects of various environments. Inference engines within the reasoning engines review the acquire data, historical or current, to generate one or more hypotheses about how the aspects of the environments might be correlated, if at all. The reasoning engine can attempt to validate the hypotheses through controlling acquisition of the environment data.

An analogous member selector automatically selects a subset of listed population members as analogous members for each new population member responsive to the supplemented description. The analogous members serve as a basis for uncertainty characterization from the joint parameter distribution and univariate distributions for each parameter.

In one embodiment, a method for predicting climate comprises: deriving a climate attractor from a global climate model, wherein a tuning parameter for the climate attractor comprises a value of total energy for moving air and water on the earth's surface; estimating a predictive function for each of a plurality of computational cells within the global climate model; and predicting an approximate climate functional of interest for a given specific location utilizing a combination of the predictive functions from each of the plurality of computational cells geographically proximate the location, where at all stages, predictive functions are selected in part by comparison to historical data.

Results of the search are provided to an analysis engine for determining if the items of information identified by the search are being maintained in accordance with a security policy for ensuring the confidentiality of the confidential content. Results of the analysis may be used to generate a report or log and to generate a notification to the client computing device identifying any violations of the security policy and possible solutions for bringing the item of information into compliance with the security policy. In addition, an administrator may be notified of any violations so that corrective action may be taken.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for scheduling objects having pair-wise and cumulative constraints. The systems and methods presented can utilize a directed acyclic graph to increase or maximize a utilization function. Violation of cumulative constraints can be identified at the moment of constraint violation such that events resulting in constraint violations can be removed from the schedule while the schedule is being determined. By removing the events triggering constraint violations at the point of constraint violation, the systems and methods provided can determine optimal or near-optimal schedules in a relatively quick and efficient manner compared to systems and methods that check for violations of cumulative constraints after determining a schedule. The objects can comprise satellites in a constellation of satellites.

Abstract: Methods and systems for identifying conditional actions in a business process are disclosed. In accordance with one such method, text fragments are extracted from input documents. In addition, a plurality of pairs of the text fragments that respectively include text fragments that are similar according to a pre-defined similarity standard are determined. For each pair of at least a subset of the pairs, at least one difference between the text fragments of the corresponding pair is determined. Further, at least two particular pairs of the subset of the pairs are merged in response to determining that the particular pairs have at least one of the determined differences in common. Additionally, the merged particular pairs are output to indicate the conditional actions in the business process.

The user distraction level is indicated in the multimedia content. In one example, work is monitored being performed on the multimedia content. Distractions are identified while the work is being monitored. A probability of errors is calculated in at least one location of the multimedia content by on the distractions that have been identified. Annotations are used to indicate of the probability of errors. In another example, the calculating of probability includes using a function F(U,S,P) based on a combination of: i) a determination of user state (U), ii) a determination of sensitivity (S) of user input, and iii) a determination of user characteristics stored in a profile (P).

According to one aspect of the present invention, a filtered initial synchronization is performed with the cache in the client device to further reduce the load on the collaboration suite server as well as the required bandwidth. In one embodiment of the present invention, mailbox items on the local cache are periodically reaped so as to not over-burden the disk space in the client device. In one embodiment of the present invention, mailbox items not present in the cache can be requested on-demand from the collaboration suite server.
