Patent number: 9278527Abstract: An ink jet recording ink including a pigment; water; and water-soluble compounds. The pigment comprises a resin-dispersed pigment dispersed with a (meth)acrylate-based random copolymer having an acid value of 100-160 mgKOH/g. The water-soluble compounds include at least ethylene urea and a water-soluble compound having a hydrophilicity-hydrophobicity coefficient defined by the following equation (A) of 0.37 or less The total content of the water-soluble compounds is 22-50 mass % with respect to the total amount of the ink The content of the ethylene urea is 11.0 mass % or more with respect to the total amount of the ink, and the proportion of the amount of the ethylene urea in the total amount of the water-soluble compounds is 50% by mass or less, Hydrophilicity-hydrophobicity coefficient=((water activity value of 20% aqueous solution)?(molar fraction of water in 20% aqueous solution))/(1?(molar fraction of water in 20% aqueous solution))??Equation (A).Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2014Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Canon Finetech Inc.Inventors: Kanako Aratani, Ryuta Aoto, Yuusuke Sumikawa, Takahiro Tsutsui, Shintaro Suzuki, Masato Kawakami

Patent number: 9278528Abstract: A liquid ejecting head includes: a flow channel member made of silicon; a nozzle plate made of silicon; a manifold member, which cooperates with the flow channel member to define a manifold in fluid communication with a plurality of pressure generation chambers; and a cover member, wherein the cover member is made of a different material than the nozzle plate, and wherein the cover member is affixed to the surface of the flow channel member that is affixed to the nozzle plate. The cover member fluidly blocks the manifold from the ambient atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2014Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Fujio Akahane

Patent number: 9278529Abstract: A liquid ejecting head including a head main unit having L (L is an integer of 2 or more) nozzle rows parallel to one another in a first direction in which, for each nozzle row, in a case in which one side in a second direction that intersects the first direction at a predetermined angle in a range of 0 degrees to 90 degrees is the first side, the nozzle row furthest to the first side among the L nozzle rows does not have a nozzle positioned at a distance M or more further to the first side in the second direction than the nozzle furthest to the first side of a nozzle row neighboring in the second direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2015Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Fujio Akahane

Patent number: 9278530Abstract: An inkjet-head includes a first flow path member in which a first flow path is formed; and a second flow path member in which a second flow path is formed and to which the first flow path member is bonded. The second flow path has an intra-joint-surface flow path which is formed by surrounding, with a first adhesive, a peripheral edge of a groove formed in the second flow path member and bonding the first flow path member thereto. A joint space is formed and includes the intra-joint-surface flow path due to surrounding, with a second adhesive, an outer periphery of the intra-joint-surface flow path and bonding the second flow path member and the first flow path member thereto. At least a part of an atmosphere opening path which causes the joint space to be open to the atmosphere is formed by sealing an atmosphere opening groove formed in the joint space using a film.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2015Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventors: Taiki Hanagami, Haruki Kobayashi, Isamu Togashi

Patent number: 9278531Abstract: A print head protection device is used with an inkjet printer having a print head adapted for elevating. A roller is mounted upstream of the print heads and above the process path a predetermined distance. A cover on the roller outer surface contacts the sheet lead edge if sheet curl exceeds a set curl range. The cover will cause rotation of the roller by engaging the sheet. A rotary encoder is mounted for synchronous rotation with the roller. The rotary encoder generates a signal in response to rotation of the roller, raising the print head to preclude damage. Alternately, the sheet can be discarded.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 2014Date of Patent: March 8, 2016Assignee: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Jason M. LeFevre, Douglas K. Herrmann, Derek A. Bryl
