  • Patent number: 9283567
Abstract: A shredder has a jam proof system with a thickness detector having a contact member which displaces as an article is inserted into the shredder and a resistance generating mechanism which provides a resistance force to the contact member, in response to its displacement. The greater the thickness of the article, the greater the resistance force realized. When a predetermined thickness is reached, there is a significant change in the resistance force. The resistance generating mechanism may include at least two spring mechanisms and provide feedback to the user that the inserted article may be too thick. In addition, the thickness detector may include a thickness sensor. The sensor may communicate with a controller to alert the user, and/or alter the operation of the shredder, in response to the thickness of the inserted article. For example, the controller may visually and/or audibly alert the user, or control shredder motor response.

Abstract: A method of controlling the crushing of material in an inertia cone crusher includes the step of charging material to be crushed from a feeding hopper to a crushing chamber formed between an inner crushing shell being supported on a crushing head, and an outer crushing shell of the inertia cone crusher. An unbalance bushing, which is provided with an unbalance weight and rotatably connected to the crushing head by a drive shaft, is rotated such that a central axis of the crushing head gyrates about a gyration axis. The number of revolutions of the unbalance bushing is sensed using an rpm sensor. The number of revolutions of the unbalance bushing is controlled by a control system and the material is crushed in the crushing chamber.

Abstract: Methods of separating one type of nanoparticle from another type of nanoparticle in a mixture including more than one type of nanoparticle are disclosed. The methods may include suspending a mixture of the various types of nanoparticles in a liquid and modifying a characteristic of the liquid. Thereafter, a force may be applied to the nanoparticles within the mixture causing one type of nanoparticles to separate from another type of nanoparticles. The applied force may be the force of gravity, or it may be an induced force such as a centrifugal force applied with a centrifuge or similar apparatus. Upon the occurrence physical separation, sub-populations of nanoparticles may be removed from the suspension or segregated. Alternatively the methods may include modifying a type of nanoparticle in suspension. Alternative embodiments include nanoparticles modified in suspension to provide for separation from other types of nanoparticles.

  • Patent number: 9283571
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of using a flotation machine that is used in metallurgical processes and to a flotation machine. The flotation machine foams hydrophobic particles from an aqueous slurry that contains these particles. The flotation machine includes a flotation cell (1), and a rotor (2) that is inside the flotation cell. The rotor (2) is rotated at a mixing power, which maintains the suspension in the slurry and mixing of air with the slurry to form the foam, and the mixing power is controlled by adjusting the rotation speed of the rotor. The amount of solid matter S accumulated on the bottom of the cell (1) is determined, and the rotation speed of the rotor (2) is adjusted on the basis of the determined amount of solid matter. The flotation machine includes a measuring device (5) for determining the amount of solid matter accumulated on the bottom of the cell.
