  • Patent number: 9283579
Abstract: A dual, variable volume hot melt adhesive dispensing nozzle or die assembly is provided with a pair of choke slots within a first fluid control plate. The provision of the choke slots within the first fluid control plate effectively restricts and retards the flow of the fluid through such choke slots whereby volumes of the fluids are effectively built up and stored upstream of the choke slots so as to effectively delay the reaction of pressure spikes upon the fluid flows under both positive and negative conditions. This buildup in pressure and volume is then dispensed over time so as to cause the fluid flow to smoothly transition between positive and negative spiked fluid flow conditions and normal fluid flow conditions. Accordingly, the pressure spikes do not adversely affect the resulting fluid flows whereby, for example, under conventional negative pressure spike conditions, gaps in the dispensed hot melt adhesive would otherwise occur.

  • Patent number: 9283584
Abstract: A liquid delivery system comprises a tank containing a supply of liquid. A positive displacement pump operates to withdraw the liquid from the tank via a suction conduit and to deliver a pressurized flow of the liquid via a delivery conduit. A metering orifice in the delivery conduit serves to modulate the flow of the liquid through the delivery conduit. A normally closed first valve located in the delivery conduit between the pump and the metering orifice is opened in response to a pressure of the liquid exceeding a threshold level, and is operative when open to deliver the liquid to the metering orifice at a substantially constant pressure. A bypass conduit communicates with the tank and with the delivery conduit at a location between the pump and the first valve. A flow restrictor in the bypass conduit serves to modulate a return flow of the liquid from the delivery conduit to the tank, thereby modulating the pressure of the liquid being delivered to the first valve.

Abstract: Cured sealant may be removed from a substrate if the cured sealant includes a susceptor within its volume. Removal proceeds by exposing the sealant with the susceptor to radio-frequency radiation sufficient to cause dielectric heating in the susceptor and the consequent heating in the cured sealant reduces the bond strength of the cured sealant. The reduced bond-strength sealant may be removed by physical methods, such as scraping etc., much more easily than the original (unexposed) cured sealant. • Patent number: 9283608
Abstract: A hard disk drive with a multiple disk stack normally utilizes disk separator plates near the disk surfaces to reduce wind induced vibrations in the disks and the read/write heads. The manufacturing methods currently used to make these separator plates, metal casting and machining, or injection molded plastic, or extruding and machining, or cold forging tends to be expensive and creates unwanted weight and bulk without the desired precision. Stamping disk separator plates from metal provides exceptional dimensional control at reduced cost, but cannot readily provide the thicknesses required. Stamping and extruding the offsets, or stamping and folding the offsets, is a manufacturing process that provides the required dimensions for the offsets, and dimensional control and reduced cost.

The clinching tool (20) comprises a die tool (20) and a counter-tool (30) which together form and join, by local plastic reshaping or deformation of the metal workpieces (11, 12), a clinch connection (13) which connects or permanently joins the first metal workpiece (11) and the second metal workpiece (12). The die tool (20) comprises a die having a flank (25) arranged concentrically with respect to the rotational axis (24). The flank (25) has a front end surface (23) perpendicular to the rotational axis (24). The flank (25) is conically shaped at least in the lower transition region (21) to the front end surface (23) and has a flank angle (W, W1, W2) smaller than or equal to 10 degrees, preferably smaller than or equal to 5 degrees.

Abstract: Four-die forging device for forging presses can be employed to forge ingots and billets in a variety of steels and alloys on forging presses and is intended to provide for a longer repair-free service life of the device, a higher reliability, an increased forging process output and a better quality of forged parts. The holders (3, 4) of the side dies (5, 7) have a shape approximating to that of a truncated pyramid with the center of mass (47) of the “side die holder-side die” system located within the longitudinal section of the side die holder. The apart-guiding ways (9-12) are arranged either on the side surfaces of the die holders (1, 2), or on the inclined planes (22-29) of the holders (1-4) of the dies (5-8) in the longitudinal symmetry plane of the device, or on both of them. Internal planes of the apart-guiding ways are formed to enclose the planes of adjacent die holders thus creating a clutch-type connection.
