Abstract: Antimicrobial compositions for killing or deactivating microbes, such as viruses, bacteria, or fungi, include metal nanoparticles, a carrier, and a plurality of metal nanoparticles. The nanoparticles can be selected to have a particle size and particle size distribution to selectively and preferentially kill one of a virus, a bacterium, or a fungus. Antiviral compositions can include nanoparticles having a particle size of 8 nm or less, 1-7 nm, 2-6.5 nm, or 3-6 nm (or up to 10 nm for Ebola virus). Antibacterial compositions can include nanoparticles having a particle size of 3-14 nm, 5-13 nm, 7-12 nm, or 8-10 nm. Antifungal compositions can include nanoparticles having a particle size of 9-20 nm, 10-18 nm, 11-16 nm, or 12-15 nm. Exemplary methods of killing or deactivating microbes include: (1) applying an antimicrobial composition to a substrate containing microbes, and (2) the antimicrobial composition killing or deactivating the microbes.

Abstract: Nanoparticle compositions for treating citrus greening disease and other plant diseases include a liquid or gel carrier and metal nanoparticles dispersed therein. The metal nanoparticles can be spherical-shaped and/or coral-shaped. Methods of treating plant diseases include applying a nanoparticle composition to an infected plant part to kill the microbe causing the disease. The method may further include removing an infected plant part, such as a branch, treating the infected plant part with a nanoparticle composition, and grafting the plant part (branch) back onto the plant. The plant may particularly be a citrus tree.

Abstract: The invention concerns a three component system comprising surface-active substances, vitamins and metal ions for efficient destruction and removal of contaminating proteins, nucleic acids and microorganisms from surfaces like for example laboratory benches, floors, equipment and instruments. These non-corrosive and non-toxic solutions for removal of proteins, nucleic acids and microorganisms are applied by spraying, rubbing or immersion of contaminated surfaces thereby destroying, solubilizing inactivating and removing proteins and nucleic acids. In that way also microorganisms are killed with high efficiency and at the same time all genetic information is inactivated.

Abstract: The present invention describes a pesticidal compositions containing a pesticidal natural oil, Neem, and a pesticidal natural fungal entomopathogen, Beauveria bassiana. These compositions can be used to control pests by killing the pests, preventing or reducing feeding, preventing or reducing eclosion of their eggs. These compositions exhibit effective or more rapid knockdown pesticidal activity, and synergistic pesticidal activity. These compositions can be used to control pests including insects and/or arachnids, including arthropods such as whiteflies.

Abstract: Methods and compositions for controlling the growth of an invasive species by application of a composition comprised of a natural pesticide derived from a species to the invasive species, especially endocides. Disclosed herein are methods and compositions for controlling the growth of a first invasive species by application of a composition comprising a natural pesticide derived from a second invasive species to the first invasive species. In some embodiments, the invasive species is an invasive species with glands as the primary accumulation sites of autotoxic chemicals. The first and second invasive species may be the same or they may be different. In some embodiments, the natural pesticide may be an endocide. An endocide (endogenous biocide) is a biocide derived from an endogenous bioactive agent (e.g., a secondary metabolite) that does not cause apparent poison in normal growth of the producing species but will poison or inhibit and even eliminate the parent species when induced in producing species.
