  • Patent number: 9302293
Abstract: A dedusting apparatus is formed with a rectangular inlet structure that assures a fully loaded feeding of particulate material over the face of the opposing wash decks. A rectangular inlet box having substantially the same width dimension as the corresponding dimension of the adjacent wash decks provides an even distribution of particulate material over the entire surface of the wash decks. A reconfiguration of the air inlet structure eliminates a rearward air plenum and manifold by passing the air flow upwardly through the bottom wall of the apparatus housing, rather than through the rear wall. Individually adjustable inlet deflectors can regulate the product flow on each respective wash deck and can be closed to stop the product flow completely to either one or both of the wash decks. Actuators control the movement of the deflectors, which can be integrated in an overall electronic control system for the dedusting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9302294
Abstract: A cobalt coincidence radioactivity detector is used to separate radioactive concrete dust from uncontaminated dust resulting from dismantling a nuclear power plant. A suction air stream carries the dust through a vacuum line to a cyclone segregator. The dust falls into a smaller first container from the segregator, and the detector detects radioactivity in the filled first container. The dust is transferred from the first container to a second container if the detected radioactivity exceeds a predetermined threshold. The dust is transferred from the first container to a third container if the detected radioactivity does not exceed the predetermined threshold. A filter collects the dust carried past the segregator by the suction air stream. If the radioactivity detected in the dust that collects on the filter exceeds the predetermined threshold, the dust in the first container is transferred to the second container before the first container is allowed to fill.

  • Patent number: 9302304
Abstract: An extrusion press includes a means which can prevent phenomena in which a billet is blown out during an extrusion process as well as prevent billet blowout with a simple and inexpensive constitution. The extrusion press drives a main cylinder device to extrude, by a stem , a billet filled into a container from a die and form a product. A gap measurement means that measures a gap arising at the container seal surface formed by pressing the die side end surface of the container against the container side end surface of the die is provided on an end platen on the outer edge part of the container side end surface of the die. When the gap arising during the extrusion process is measured and the measured value is within a predetermined range of allowable values, a set value for the extrusion rate is lowered and a warning is issued. A necking step follows the rotational plastic working step, necking the hollow engine valve body semifinished product to thereby reduce the outer diameter and the inner diameter of the shaft part. A sealing step seals the leading end of the shaft part to obtain the hollow engine valve.

Abstract: A device and a method of using the device for construction of baffles that may be used in suppressors or solvent traps for firearms out of metal cups sold as engine block freeze plugs. The device has a bottom die, a top die and an alignment cylinder. The metal cup is transformed into a baffle by placing the metal cup on the bottom die, placing the bottom die inside the alignment cylinder, placing the top die inside the alignment cylinder, and applying compressive forces to the bottom die and top die. A hole may be drilled in the center of the baffle by placing a drill bit into a top die center hole completely penetrating through the top die and coaxial thereto, and drilling through the baffle, the drill bit passing into a bottom die center hole penetrating at least partially into the bottom die and coaxial thereto.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide apparatus and methods for injection molding. In one embodiment, a constraining plunger may be configured in-line with an injection plunger to transfer a molten material from a melt zone and into a mold. The constraining and injection plungers are configured to constrain the molten material there-between while moving. The constrained molten material can be controlled to have an optimum surface area to volume ratio to provide minimized heat loss during the injection molding process. The system can be configured in a longitudinal direction (e.g., horizontally) for movement between the melt zone and mold along a longitudinal axis. A molded bulk amorphous object can be ejected from the mold.

Abstract: A method removes a fuel injector pole piece from bar stock and provides a cutoff tool having a first cutting surface and a second cutting surface separate from the first cutting surface. The pole piece and bar stock are caused to rotate about a longitudinal axis. The tool is advanced with respect to the pole piece so that the first cutting surface severs the pole piece from the bar stock and defines an unfinished end surface of the pole piece, with a certain cutting force being exerted on the tool. The tool is further advanced with respect to the pole piece so that the second cutting surface removes material from the unfinished end surface to define a finished end surface of the pole piece, with a cutting force on the tool being substantially less than the certain cutting force.
