Abstract: Golf ball multi-layered core sub-assemblies and the resulting golf balls are provided. The core structure includes a foam inner core (center); and intermediate and outer core layers. Foamed polyurethane is preferably used to make the inner core. The intermediate and outer core layers are preferably made from non-foamed thermoplastic compositions such as ethylene acid copolymer ionomers that are partially or highly neutralized, polyester-polyether block copolymers, polyether-amide block copolymers, and blends thereof. The core layers have different hardness and specific gravity levels. The ball further includes a cover having at least one layer. The core structure and resulting ball have relatively good resiliency.

Abstract: An active play toy shaped substantially like a baseball bat has a proximal handle section grippable by a user and a distal launching section rotatably attached to the handle section and rotatably movable with respect to the handle section from a first angled striking configuration to a second substantially straight configuration by swinging the toy. The angle between the handle section and the launching section in the striking configuration is substantially between 90° and 120° and preferably about 105°. One or more detent mechanisms keep the toy in at least one of the first or second configurations until moved by the user. One such detent mechanism keeps the toy in the first angled striking configuration until the toy is swung like a bat by the user. A scalloped ball holding region may be formed in a distal portion of the launching section for holding and/or catching a ball.

Abstract: An improved projectile throwing apparatus is described comprising a handle, an elongate shaft, and a throwing head for throwing a projectile, such as a golf ball. The throwing head may be interchangeable with golf shafts of varied lengths, with lacrosse shafts, or other shafts to achieve accurate, long distance golf ball throws. The throwing head may be shaped to achieve throws of different distance, launch angle, and trajectory, optionally imparting spin with a retrograde ramp at the distal end of the throwing head. The throwing apparatus is useful for golf-type game play, including for those with physical disabilities, as well as for a training and instructional aid for golf, lacrosse, and other sports.

Abstract: A lacrosse head pocket and a related method of manufacture are provided to facilitate consistent, repeatable and/or custom manufacture of lacrosse equipment. The pocket can be constructed from multiple different sections joined with one another, or can be knitted, weaved or otherwise assembled on an automated assembly machine from strands, and/or can be formed as a unitary textile material having regions/sections with different physical and/or mechanical properties. The pocket can be integrally molded within portions of a lacrosse head to eliminate manually constructed connections between the pocket and lacrosse head. The lacrosse head can be integrally molded with a lacrosse handle to provide a one-piece unitary lacrosse stick. Related methods of manufacturing also are provided.

The distal end of the launching section includes a disc holder adapted to releasably hold the disc. The disc holder has a proximal disc gripper and a distal disc gripper each gripping the disc independently of the other. When the disc is inserted into the disc holder and the launching section is whipped with respect to the handle section, the disc holder releases the disc. The distal disc gripper has a greater gripping force on the disc than the proximal disc gripper, causing the disc to leave the proximal gripper first and then the distal gripper when thrown. This sequential release of the disc imparts rotational motion to the disc.

When a ball strikes a portion of the post, or passes through a feature of the post, one or more points are awarded to the throwing team. Play continues until one of the teams achieves a predetermined score. Variations of play can include an activity area where a team performs a predetermined activity to receive points or to block the opposing team from receiving points.

While the emulsion is heated in the cavitation device, the air is finely dispersed in it, so is able to absorb water evaporated from the discrete, discontinuous phase aqueous droplets in the emulsion. A mixture of incoming and aerated emulsion is maintained at an optimal temperature in a process tank while a steady state continuous process is controlled to utilize the heat input, after compensating for radiant heat losses and other system losses, substantially exclusively for the evaporation of water in the emulsion. The process is applicable to any water-in-oil emulsion.
