Abstract: A file system configured to use tags to control operations on files stored in the system. Each tag is usable to tag one or more of the files stored in the system and/or one or more other tags in the system. Each tag identifies one or more privileges for a user of the tag to operate on tagged files. Tags are sharable in the system for use by various users, which may create tags, modify tags, share tags, apply tags to selected tags and/or files in the system, and follow chains of tagging to access tagged files. The chains of tagging may include loops/circles in a graph of tags in the system.

Abstract: An approach is provided in which a cognitive digital security assistant intercepts a personal data request from a client that is requesting personal data from a user. The cognitive digital security assistant analyzes the personal data request against the user's security statements to determine whether to provide the user's personal data to the client. During the analysis, the cognitive digital security assistant determines whether the personal data request includes benefits that meet the user's benefit thresholds included in the user's security statements. When the benefits meet the user's benefit thresholds, the cognitive digital security assistant provides the requested personal data to the client in exchange for the benefit from the client.

Abstract: Both pixel-oriented analysis and the more accurate yet slower object-oriented analysis are used to recognize patterns in images of stained cancer tissue. Images of tissue from other patients that are similar to tissue of a target patient are identified using the standard deviation of color in the images. Object-oriented segmentation is then used to segment small portions of the images of the other patients into object exhibiting object characteristics. Pixelwise descriptors associate each pixel in the remainder of the images with object characteristics based on the color of pixels at predetermined offsets from the characterized pixel. Pixels in the image of the target patient are assigned object characteristics without performing the slow segmentation of the image into objects. A pixel heat map is generated from the target image by assigning pixels the color corresponding to the object characteristic that the pixelwise descriptors indicate is most likely associated with each pixel.

Abstract: Various embodiments enable the identification of semi-structured text entities in an imager. The identification of the text entities is a relatively simple problem when the text is stored in a computer and free of errors, but much more challenging if the source is the output of an optical character recognition (OCR) engine from a natural scene image. Accordingly, output from an OCR engine is analyzed to isolate a character string indicative of a text entity. Each character of the string is then assigned to a character class to produce a character class string and the text entity of the string is identified based in part on a pattern of the character class string.

Abstract: A facility implementing systems and/or methods for creating statistically significant signatures for targets of interest and using those signatures to identify and locate targets of interest within image data, such as an array of pixels, captured still images, video data, etc., is described. Embodiments of the facility generate statistically significant signatures based at least in part on series approximations (e.g., Fourier Series, Gram-Charlier Series) of image data. The disclosed techniques allow for a high degree of confidence in identifying and tracking targets of interest within visual data and are highly tolerant of translation and rotation in identifying objects using the statistically significant signatures.

Abstract: In order to produce an image processing filter by utilizing genetic programming, a taught parameter acquiring unit acquires a taught parameter indicating a feature shape in an input image before processing. A data processing unit creates an output image by processing the input image with an image processing filter, and subsequently a feature extracting unit extracts a detected parameter indicating a feature shape in the output image. An automatic configuring unit evaluates the image processing filter by calculating cosine similarity between the taught parameter and the detected parameter.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for assigning an aesthetic score to an image. A method of the present invention includes receiving an image comprising a set of global features. The method includes extracting a set of global features for the image. The method further includes encoding the extracted set of global features into a high-dimensional feature vector. The method further includes reducing the dimension of the high-dimensional feature vector. The method further includes applying a machine-learned model to assign an aesthetic score to the image, wherein a more aesthetically-pleasing image is given a higher aesthetic score and a less aesthetically-pleasing image is given a lower aesthetic score.

Abstract: An object detection method includes for each of a set of patches of an image, encoding features of the patch with a non-linear mapping function, and computing per-patch statistics based on the encoded features for approximating a window-level non-linear operation by a patch-level operation. Then, windows are extracted from the image, each window comprising a sub-set of the set of patches. Each of the windows is scored based on the computed patch statistics of the respective sub-set of patches. Objects, if any, can then be detected in the image, based on the window scores. The method and system allow the non-linear operations to be performed only at the patch level, reducing the computation time of the method, since there are generally many more windows than patches, while not impacting performance unduly, as compared to a system which performs non-linear operations at the window level.

Abstract: A system and method for object classification is provided. The system includes a computing device that typically comprises a processor configured to receive data and detect an object within the data. Once an object is detected, it can be decomposed into sub-objects and connectivities. Based on the sub-objects and connectivities parameters can be generated. Moreover, based on at least one of sub-objects, connectivities and parameters objective measures can be generated. The object can then be classified based on the objective measures. The parameters can be linked into into linked parameters. Linked classification measures can be generated based on linked parameters. The system can also detect environment objects that form the environment of the detected object. Similar to an object, an environment object can be decomposed into environment sub-objects, and subsequently to environment parameters.
