Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for producing a drop of a viscoelastic fluid. A separation volume of viscoelastic fluid that is to form a drop from a larger remnant volume of viscoelastic fluid is moved from through an interface and into a cross-channel. Movement subjects the viscoelastic fluid to shear that may cause a reduction in viscosity. Movement of the viscoelastic fluid is then reduced or stopped (i.e., the rate at which shear is applied is reduced), such that the viscosity of the viscoelastic fluid may increase as the viscoelastic fluid experiences relaxation. The separation volume of viscoelastic fluid is then moved down the cross-channel in a first direction by the flow of an immiscible fluid, which separates the separation volume from a remnant volume. The separation volume may then be dispensed from the cross-channel as a drop.

Abstract: The servomechanism transmitting restrained force to a load device for use with standard remote control systems. The magnitude of the transmitted force is proportional to the control signal and does not depend on the position of the actuator. Internally or externally mounted dynamometer is used to control amount of restrained force. Elements are provided to simplify a great number of mechanical devices which require control of servomechanism output force, or an output force of a mechanism controlled by a servomechanism. It allows improving technical characteristics of many devices, by using it instead of servomechanism with load device position control. It is particularly useful in but not limited to fields, such as remotely controlled lightweight devices, robots, radio controlled models, video camera suspenders.

Abstract: A method of reducing power consumption by components of an automated plant during a production stoppage. Control apparatus transmits stoppage time data to the plant components via a data network to initiate the stoppage. Each automated plant component automatically changes to a respective given target state at a respective given stoppage time if the stoppage time data received by that plant component includes that stoppage time for that target state and if at least one other plant component is in a respective operating state expected for this target state. The invention sets a coordinated combination of consumption-minimized plant-component states. The control apparatus transmits respective component-specific stoppage times to the plant components in the stoppage time data, said stoppage time being different from at least one stoppage time transmitted to another plant component. As a result, the component states can be matched to one another.

Abstract: An oscillator circuit of the type comprising a flip-flop for generating a clock signal and two comparators for comparing a reference voltage with the voltage across a first capacitor which is charged during a first cycle of the clock signal and the voltage across a second capacitor which is charged during a second cycle of a clock signal provides a means for removing the effects of any offset in either comparator. This is achieved by reversing the inputs of the comparators for each cycle of the output frequency. Thus an offset in a comparator which would increase the clock period on one cycle will reduce the period of the next cycle by the same amount. As a net result, the period of time over two clock periods will stay constant regardless of any offset drift in a comparator.

Abstract: By way of example, a low-power processing device is disclosed. The low-power processing device includes a battery power supply, a processor, and a micro-controller. The processor sleeps by reducing voltage to a non-transitory memory of the processor and storing system settings in a non-transitory memory of the microcontroller, which is coupled to the processor via a communications bus. The processor is further coupled to the battery power supply to receive power. The microcontroller is coupled to the processor via the communications bus to send and receive data. The microcontroller sends an interrupt (A) to the processor and the processor receives A and wakes up by polling the microprocessor for an event associated with A and loads the system settings via the communications bus from the non-transitory memory of the microcontroller into the non-transitory memory of the processor.

Abstract: To provide an electronic apparatus, a method of detecting a tap operation, etc. for performing appropriate detection processing of a tap operation. The electronic apparatus includes a setting unit 110 that sets a sampling frequency for acceleration detection of an acceleration sensor 10, a processing unit 120 that performs a determination of a tap operation based on sensor information from the acceleration sensor 10, an operation information acquisition unit 130 that acquires operation information from an operation unit 140, and a communication unit 150 that performs communication processing of information, wherein, when reception of the information by the communication unit 150 is detected or when acquisition of the operation information by the operation information acquisition unit 130 is detected, the setting unit 110 sets the sampling frequency to F2 as a higher frequency than the sampling frequency F1 before detection.

Abstract: System and techniques for user input via elastic deformation of a material are described herein. The morphology of an elastic material may be observed with a sensor. The observations may include a first and a second morphological sample of the elastic material. The first and second morphological samples may be compared against each other to ascertain a variance. The variance may be filtered to produce an output. The output may be translated into a user input parameter. A device action corresponding to the user input parameter may be invoked.
