Patent number: 9345240Abstract: Rather than trying to call a gobbler and waiting for the gobbler to approach, the hunter instead attempts to seek a gobbler while holding a decoy. As the hunter comes within sight of the gobbler, he can slowly move (e.g., tilt and/or rotate) the decoy so that its fan moves in a manner that mimics movement of a real turkey. It has been found that the gobbler will often fixate on the decoy failing to notice the hunter even when he is not well camouflaged. In fact, the gobbler will often approach the decoy in an aggressive manner making it much less wary than in a typical hunt where a hunter is attempting to make calls that imitate a hen. When the hunter feels that the gobbler is fixated on the decoy, he can couple the decoy to his weapon thereby freeing both of his hands for operating his weapon.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2014Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: Big Pine Innovations, LLCInventor: E. Patent number: 9345249Abstract: Donor milk has become a standard of care for feeding preterm infants, particularly those with gestational ages of 34 weeks or less, whose mothers are not lactating or not producing sufficient milk quantities. However, prior to distribution, donor milk is required to undergo pasteurization, typically using the Holder method, which is believed to destroy immune proteins in the milk and denature many other proteins. Donor milk has been found to contain concentrations of chemokines, cytokines, and growth factors, evidencing the value of donor milk over formula. In light of the findings, donor milk is supplemented with chemokines, cytokines, and growth factors that are found to be lower in the donor milk as compared to mother's own milk.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2015Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: University of South FloridaInventors: Maureen Edith Groer, Terri Ashmeade

Patent number: 9345253Abstract: There are provided a metal soap which is useful as a food additive to be added to various foods for the purposes of improving a fluidity, an anti-bridging property, a low moisture absorption property and feel upon eating of foods, and has a less adverse influence on the foods, as well as a process for producing the metal soap. The metal soap for a food additive is constituted of a fatty acid calcium salt or a fatty acid magnesium salt having 6 to 24 carbon atoms which is obtained by a double decomposition method, and a water dispersion containing the metal soap in an amount of 2% by mass exhibits a pH of not less than 6 but less than 7. The process for producing the metal soap for a food additive includes the steps of reacting 1 mol of a fatty acid having 6 to 24 carbon atoms with not less than 0.9 mol but less than 1 mol of a monovalent basic compound to obtain a fatty acid basic compound salt; and reacting the fatty acid basic compound salt with a calcium salt or a magnesium salt in an aqueous medium.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2006Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: NOF CORPORATIONInventors: Yasuyuki Miyata, Masahiro Fukumoto, Noriko Fujio, Nobuhiko Shizuka

Patent number: 9345254Abstract: The present inventors found that the natural flavor intrinsic to soybean is retained more than ever before when soybean is processed to prepare a processed soybean material having a specific lipid content, a dietary fiber content, an acid-soluble component content and a protein content, whereby the present problems were solved. More specifically, the processed soybean material of the present invention is such that, on a solid weight basis, (1) a content of lipid, extracted with a mixed organic solvent wherein a ratio of chloroform to methanol is 2:1, is 10 to 40% by weight, (2) a dietary fiber content is 5 to 40% by weight, (3) a potassium content is 1% by weight or less, (4) a protein content is 30 to 65% by weight, and (5) a sum of ?-conglycinin and 24 kDa protein is 2.4 times or less of lipoxygenase protein in soybean proteins.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2011Date of Patent: May 24, 2016Assignee: FUJI OIL HOLDINGS INC.Inventors: Masahiko Samoto, Takayasu Motoyama, Jiro Kanamori, Masashi Asanoma
