A payment terminal is configured to become usable as a payment terminal shared by a plurality of operators with cryptographic segregation between the different operators of the payment terminal. An operator- and terminal-specific transport key is provided to the payment terminal. An operator- and terminal-specific initial-encryption key is derived, by the payment provider, from an operator-specific base-derivation key using the terminal-identification number, or an additional identification number of the payment terminal. The operator- and terminal-specific initial-encryption key is transmitted to the payment terminal, and is decrypted at the payment terminal.

Abstract: A banking system operates responsive to data read from data bearing records. The system includes an automated banking machine comprising a card reader. The card reader includes a movable read head that can read card data along a magnetic stripe of a card that was inserted long-edge first. The card reader includes a card entry gate. The gate is opened for a card that is determined to be properly oriented for data reading. The card reader can encrypt card data, including account data. The machine also includes a PIN keypad. The card reader can send encrypted card data to the keypad. The keypad can decipher the encrypted card data. The keypad can encrypt both deciphered card data and a received user PIN. The card data and the PIN are usable by the machine to authorize a user to carry out a financial transfer involving the account.

Abstract: Transaction processing in an offline environment for a prepaid product comprising a portable consumer device includes responding to presentation of the prepaid product at a reader for offline processing by initiating operation of the prepaid product, receiving data from the prepaid product at the reader that indicates the prepaid product is associated with a prepaid account balance, determining that the prepaid product is in a negative balance condition, and taking preventive action in response to the negative balance condition such that future acceptance of the prepaid product at a reader is prevented.

Abstract: A method for tracking patronage of a customer in at least one casino property is described. The method comprises monitoring a wireless handset that determines the location of the customer. The method then proceeds to generate a user profile that comprises user preferences and monitored betting activity associated with the customer and accumulated points stored in a customer account according to a monetary value of the monitored betting activity. Complementary goods or services are determined based on the accumulated points associated with the customer account. A message is sent to the wireless handset associated with the complementary goods or services that is consistent with the user preferences.

The first message indicates the merchant and the terms of the offer, which may include a specific time period during which the offer is valid. The method further includes detecting that the particular consumer has accepted the offer and, in response, automatically transmitting a second message to trigger a transfer of funds to an account of the consumer. The method can further include, in response to detecting that the consumer has accepted the offer, automatically and immediately transmitting a message to the consumer to confirm the transfer of funds to the account of the consumer, so as to provide feedback to the consumer.

Abstract: Customer data is securely downloaded to a browser toolbar by performing a check to determine whether a request for customer data includes a request for personal identifiable information requiring encryption by a public encryption key generated by the browser toolbar. The customer is authenticated based on a set of a user credential and an account specific access credential. The account specific access credential is associated with the account of the customer. Requested personal identifiable information is encrypted using the public encryption key generated by the browser toolbar. Encrypted personal identifiable information is transmitted to the browser toolbar.

Abstract: A wearable advertising ratings method and system is disclosed. The location of a advertising media can be identified and a human eye can be located and tracked when the user of the ratings system, such as a pedestrian, is wearing eye polarity-sensing earphones. The earphones collect data when a user views media, as well as process and transmit such data through the user's communications device. Changes in the eye's polarity, perception, and reaction to viewing media are correlated to human brain reactions to acquire ratings for viewed media. The system allows for an advertiser to acquire and evaluate audience feedback and ratings related to presentation and content displayed on media (e.g., billboards, digital signage, window displays, etc.), as well as provide incentives for rating such media through use of an applications store.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for processing mobile device location data is provided. Location data is filtered based on age and accuracy or precision of location coordinates. Location data is partitioned based on the location coordinates into a plurality of clusters including a plurality of location data instances. The plurality of clusters are filtered based on a number of data instances in a particular cluster and a period of time over which data instances of the particular data cluster are generated. A distance is determined from a location coordinate corresponding to the data instances of one or more of the plurality of clusters to a particular predetermined location, and the one or more of the plurality of clusters are correlated with the particular predetermined location in response to the distance being less than a predetermined distance. The invention further provides a location data processing system.

Abstract: A method for determining a relocation recommendation for a relocating cardholder relocating from a first location to a target location is provided. The method is implemented using a relocation recommendation (RR) computing device in communication with a memory. The method includes receiving, from a cardholder device, a cardholder identifier for the relocating cardholder, and at least one of a general target area and the target location. The method also includes determining an area of interest for the relocating cardholder based at least in part on payment card transaction data at the first location, identifying at least one other cardholder having initiated payment card transactions within the target location and having the same area of interest as the relocating cardholder, determining at least one target merchant located within the target location that is associated with the area of interest, and transmitting, to the cardholder device, a relocation recommendation.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for providing a buy option to search results in a generalized search engine. That one location for a search field can be a website, an application, a search bar in a web browser, etc. Rather than navigating to a website to perform a search in the context of that website, a user can instead navigate to or open a generalized search field. Via the generalized search field, the system can analyze the input from the user and the resulting context. A buy button can be included a search result to the user input in the input search field. Payment for an item can be processing using a payment account registered with the system with delivery coordinated with a separate merchant via an application programming interface.

Abstract: Configurations are provided for suggesting one or more other users within a same or proximate geolocation to enable the user to engage in activities with these suggested users. When the user performs a check-in for a new or different geolocation in an online social networking service, the subject technology can suggest other users who have recently checked-in and/or changed their location to the same place or region. The subject technology can sort one or more suggested users based on geographic proximity, how recently the user checked-in, a distance from the user, and other criteria (e.g., interests, demographic information (e.g., gender, age, etc.), social networking profile, etc.). The suggested users are selected, in one example, to identify one or more users that are typically not in the same place or geolocation but have newly arrived here. The subject technology can prioritize the selection of suggested users based on different criteria.

In one embodiment, an autonomous neighborhood vehicle can autonomously navigate to a destination specified by a user of the neighborhood social network. In one embodiment, a computer system of the autonomous neighborhood vehicle is communicatively coupled to the neighborhood social network through a wireless network to autonomously navigate to a destination specified by the user of the neighborhood social network. A navigation server provides a remote sensing capability to the autonomous neighborhood vehicle. A particular user of a third-party application is authenticated as being a verified user of the neighborhood social network having a verified residential address. An information of the particular user is communicated to the third-party application from the neighborhood social network based on a personal address privacy preference of the particular user.

A display concealing system according to the present disclosure includes a display unit configured to display an image, an image forming unit configured to form an image to be displayed on the display unit, and an optical device configured to transmit or cut off the image to be displayed on the display unit. The image forming unit forms a normal image and a concealing image, and sends image data on the normal image and the concealing image to the display unit such that the normal image and the concealing image are synthesized. The optical device transmits the normal image, and cuts off the concealing image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for reducing image artifacts for a CMOS camera used as an optical detector for a line confocal fluorescent imager. The method for reducing image artifacts in a monochromatic image comprises subtracting RGB channel offset mismatch; and correcting random row offset for each row. Preferably, the method also comprises correcting random column offset and gain. Optionally, the method also comprises clipping of defective pixels, and/or subtracting dark current. When the monochromatic image is a fluorescence image, the method also comprises a step of compressing CMOS camera noise. Also provided are a system for reducing image artifacts in a monochromatic image from a CMOS camera, as well as an image artifact reduction system for a CMOS camera-based line confocal fluorescent microscope.

Abstract: A Compressed Sensing (CS) based image reconstruction method and system is described herein which may be used to reduce the X-ray dose radiation in Computed Tomography (CT) or to decrease the scan duration in MR imaging (MRI). Methods and systems described herein may address problems that have hindered the clinical usage of CS, i.e. computation complexity and modeling problems. Using the described algorithm, high quality images may be recovered from undersampled data which may help to reduce the scan time and the exposed invasive radiations. Using the same set of data in conventional image reconstruction algorithms (e.g. Filtered Back Projection (FBP) in CT) may cause severe streak artifacts and may take significantly more time using Graphics Processing Units (GPU) and parallel clusters with the conventional CS-based methods. This method can be used other imaging modalities using Radon transform (such as C-Arm and electron tomography, for example).
