Abstract: A malfunction detection device for a resolver detects malfunction in a resolver with accuracy and stability even if a value of a square sum is varied between inside and outside of a normal range. When the resolver is in malfunction, a sine signal and a cosine signal are read. It is determined whether a malfunction determination of the resolver is prohibited, or not, from read values of the sine signal and the cosine signal, or square values thereof. When it is determined that the malfunction determination of the resolver is prohibited, the count value is accumulated and incremented every time the test value falls outside a normal range. When the count value arrives at a given value or higher, it is determined that the resolver is in malfunction.

Abstract: A steering gear mechanism for motor vehicles may include a steering system housing in which a toothed rack is mounted and displaceable along a longitudinal axis. The toothed rack may be connected to steerable wheels of a motor vehicle and configured to pivot the steerable wheels. The toothed rack can include a first toothed segment that meshes with a first pinion of a pinion shaft, with the pinion shaft being connected to a steering wheel via a steering shaft. The toothed rack may further include a second toothed segment that is situated opposite the first toothed segment with respect to the longitudinal axis and engages with a second pinion. Further, an electric motor can drive the first pinion in a first direction, which by way of direct or indirect coupling causes the second pinion to rotate in a second direction opposite the first direction. The electric motor may in some cases be in the form of a hollow-shaft motor that at least partially surrounds the input shaft and/or the pinion shaft.

Abstract: The problem of penetrating through nets and other objects is solved by cutting the object using various cutter systems, which include, for example a track and a moving carriage containing a cutter, a stationary carriage with a fixed or rotating arm, and/or abrasive cutters. The object is cut by a severing, slicing, or wearing action caused by a moveable blade or abrasive surface. An underwater vehicle incorporating an embodiment of the cutter system can cut a sufficiently large opening in the object to allow the vehicle to pass through.

Abstract: A marine vessel is propelled through water using a hydro-compress gas powered engine including a chamber having a hydropower motor in an upper section and a compressed gas motor in a lower section. In a first cycle of the engine water is introduced into the hydropower motor that driving a drives a crankshaft using the kinetic energy of falling water. Concurrently a portion of a compressed gas stored in a tank is introduced into the compressed gas motor. The compressed gas is stored in a tank at a predetermined potential energy much greater than the kinetic energy of the falling water. A portion of the compressed gas introduced into the compressed gas motor has an amount of potential energy greater than the kinetic energy of the falling water. Compressed gas pushes water from the compressed gas motor the equal in mass to a predetermined mass of water in a gas-water lock.

Abstract: A motorized watercraft is a vehicle that is used to transport a user across the water. The motorized watercraft includes a floating board, a control unit, a propulsion system, a power source, and a plurality of conduit stringers. The floating board allows a user to float above the water. The propulsion system is used to supplement or replace human exertion as a means of propelling the floating board across the water. The control unit is mounted to the deck of the floating board and is used to regulate the speed of the propulsion system and may be used to control lights which are mounted into the floating board. The power source is used to provide the energy needed for running the propulsion system and the lights. The plurality of conduit stringers run through the floating board, strengthening the floating board and providing channels through which wiring may run.
