Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of 1,3-butadiene from ethene by way of oligomerization and oxidative dehydrogenation. It is based on the finding that the 1-butene content of a feed material of an oxidative dehydrogenation must not be too high and must therefore be reduced. This occurs by way of isomerization which, however, does not take place from 2-butene to 1-butene, but vice versa from 1-butene to 2-butene. If, according to the invention, isomerization is carried out between the ethene dimerization and the oxidative dehydrogenation of 1-butene to 2-butene, it is possible to achieve a high yield of butadiene and reduce the formation of by-product.
