Abstract: An abnormality detection method for a vehicle body tilt control device makes it possible to determine which air spring has an air supply/exhaust abnormality. A model creation step prepares a state estimation model for each of the front and rear vehicle halves into which a vehicle is divided, and an abnormality detection step applies a state estimation technique to the state estimation model to detect which one of the air springs has an air supply/exhaust abnormality. When flow rate command values for air supplied to/exhausted from the air springs included in each vehicle half are input, each of the input flow rate command values for air supplied to/exhausted from the air springs is multiplied by a virtual gain and the results are averaged. Based on the averages, the average of the heights of the air springs is output, where each virtual gain is included as a state variable.

Abstract: An aerodynamic drag reducing device for a pickup which has a main top panel and two opposed side panels which is mounted to the cab of the pickup truck upon the aft facing, rearward surface of the truck cab that contains the rear window. The aerodynamic drag reducing device is mounted to the back of the truck cab along the upper edge and the two opposed side edges of the truck cab rear window perimeter. Installation of the aerodynamic drag reducing device effectively increases the fuel efficiency of the pickup truck by reducing the low air pressure region created behind the truck cab while the pickup truck is in motion through the atmosphere.

Abstract: The dynamically adjustable airfoil system for road vehicles includes a pair of airfoils having their respective inner ends pivotally mounted to a central, vertical base on the rear of a road vehicle. An airfoil lift assembly is coupled to an outer end of each airfoil and to a rear wheel suspension system to facilitate dynamic adjustable positioning of the airfoils in response to movements of the suspension system. A split flap is pivotally mounted to each airfoil. A split flap actuator assembly is mounted inside each airfoil and coupled to a corresponding split flap to selectively and independently open or close the respective split flap. Opening of the split flap to various angles increases downforce exerted on the rear suspension system for improved performance. A controller controls deployment and angular disposition of the split flaps, depending on driving conditions.
